New Ground Supporting Veterans
A single Veteran mom and her 10 year old son were homeless and separated for over a year, with mom living out of her car while her son stayed with his grandparents.
Despite a full-time job, she did not earn enough to afford a place to live. She was also in college, knowing it would help her earn a higher salary. However, while working towards her goal, she lost her apartment when her landlord increased the rent.
Last Fall, New Ground reunited her and her son, helping them secure housing. Her son is flourishing in all areas of life again. Mom has recently completed her bachelor degree and is working with her social worker to find employment with a significantly better salary. At the same time, she’s paying down her debts and trying to put the rest of her life back together.
Although they still have more work to do, this Veteran family has been working hard and is well on the way to a brighter future!
