“Facing Death Without Religion”

The subject “Facing Death Without Religion” expands on our September discussion.

You can read a related article by clicking HERE. It explores questions such as: How do atheists, agnostics, and other seculars find meaning at the end of life? Or, how do they make sense of mortality without religion. Saying religion helps people find meaning facing death does not mean meaning is absent without religion. For example, secular sources like science can be as rich a source of meaning making as religion is.

As always we gather in person in the Great Room of Old North Church’s Stacey Street Office, from 11:30 A.M. to 12:30 P.M., or on-line via the Zoom link .

November is the month when traditionally Old North help stock the shelves at the Marblehead Food Pantry. The number of food insecure households visiting the Pantry continue to rise at a pace, making Old North’s donations all the more urgent. If you are able to help, please, once again, consider writing a check to Old North Church, 8 Stacey Street, Marblehead MA 01945 and putting Marblehead Food Pantry in the memo line. Alternatively you may make click HERE for an on line donation, with the same specification. Our Old North shopping team will use your kind donation to purchase the very specific needs of the Food Pantry each week. These include non-perishable goods, toiletries and personal items. Your generosity will make such a difference to the dozens of people using the food pantry.

Thank you for your consideration,

Lynda Hare on behalf of the Outreach Ministry Board.

Weekend Intergenerational Gardener Trip!

We've had such interest in a trip to the Isabelle Stewart Gardener Museum to see the Book of Esther in the Time of Rembrandt exhibit, that we're adding a second date! Let Rev. Christine know if you're interested in joining in a trip on Saturday, December 5th! (rev.christinehribar@gmail.com )

The display in the Narthex features the fish symbol as an important icon in world cultures. Highlighted is the Golden Cod, for both its Marblehead history and our own gilded weathervane which dates from 1695.

It is being restored and will soon fly again on top of our newly renovated steeple. How wonderful it is to have this enduring treasure remind us of our church’s and our town’s legacy.

Stewardship Campaign: Embodying God's Love

Help Old North Church embody God's love in Marblehead and beyond in 2027. In a world that is sometimes so confusing and full of pain, God brings love—and God chooses to use *us* to embody that love. In order for our church to plan for our life-giving ministry in the year ahead, we need everyone's help. Please prayerfully consider how much your family can donate to ONC's ministry in 2027, and return a pledge card (either on paper or online) by November 20. Pledge cards have been mailed to all households this week, and can also be found in the pews or online at onchurch.org/pledge
