Week of September 9-13, 2019
“We are what we repeatedly do.
Excellence, then is not an act but a habit.”

Dear Families and Staff:
The school year is off to a great start! As summer fades into fall with the changing of the leaves and the colors, we are called to be grateful for all the bounty of nature around us. Nature is always changing, always evolving, as is our school community, its students, and our staff.

At Southern Door, as students and staff set goals for this year, setting high standards gives us the space and the courage to learn and grow. Striving for excellence is part of our daily routine.

As we get ready for what looks like a great weekend, Friday will be a great night to come on out and show your Eagle spirit for a home football game, where we will also honor the parents of our football and cross country teams! Hope to see you there!

Together We Are Eagle Strong!

EMERGENCY PREPAREDNESS WEEK
The safety of your child, as well as the safety of all students and parents, is our top priority. We know that you care about safety as well. This week all schools went over school expectations for behavior and safety. Clear communication is essential. Students, staff, parents, and administration must report and address issues that involve school and student safety.

It is important that we emphasize to you the importance of "if you see something, or hear something, (this includes social media), you need to stop it by saying something right away!" Please contact the school office immediately, if during the school day. If after hours, please call 911 to report the concern or, if non-emergency, call the police at 920-746-2400.

This next week we will be reviewing procedures for all of our major drills. Please see the district letter outlining all of our procedures, as well as recommendations for you, as parents, to partner with us in your child's safety. The power point presentations we use are listed on the district website by clicking on the emergency preparedness icon. Please note that, while we identify locations in and outside of school as evacuation areas, those are not listed on the website for security purposes.
DISTRICT'S ANNUAL MEETING TO BE HELD SEPTEMBER 16, 2019

SOPHOMORE DESIGNS MURAL FOR ENGLISH HALLWAY
This summer, sophomore Hayley LeRoy designed and painted a mural for the High School English Department. Paint was graciously donated by Zoerbs. The book titles were favorites of our staff and students, and include a representation of local author, Rudy Senarighi’s book, “In Pursuit of the Rise.” Mr. Senarighi took time to visit our English classrooms last year to discuss the profession of writing, and left everyone inspired! Congratulations Hayley, and thank you for bringing this thoughtful design from concept to reality!
MARK YOUR CALENDARS:

Elementary Sets Friday morning, September 27, 2019 for Annual Grandparent & Special Friends Day.
HAUNTED MANSION NEEDS YOUR HELP
The Haunted Mansion does a fantastic job supporting so many of our school activities and their needs. Now in its 14th year, the Mansion has no paid positions, and continues to be supported by volunteer hours from the community.

Please consider your family's donating time (adults and children alike), either in getting the Mansion (ready now in September), or working the October weekends. Once you experience the fun and camaraderie of this group, you will be hooked for sure!

You can contact Sue Marchant at 920.493.4266 or Cory Vandertie at 920.676.1920 if you would like more details.
