Soul Care Aug 2026

Soul Care Blog - by Karen Kaigler-Walker

A woman died. On meeting St. Peter at the pearly gates, he said, “You’ve lived a continually godly life, but before I can let you in you need to take this 100-point test. You earn points for how well you’ve lived.”

The woman answered confidently, “I’m a cradle Methodist. All of my life I attended church, read the Bible, and prayed.” Peter gave her 2 points.

Being a little shocked at getting only 2 points, she said, “I was kind to my family, neighbors, and friends by taking them food when they were sick.” Two points.

Scratching her head she said, “I taught Sunday school and went on mission trips until I was too old. I was a UWFaith leader in my circle, district, and conference.” Three points.

2026 Project for LPI Creative Arts Studio

This Thursday, August 20th, Lydia Patterson Institute (LPI) is featured in the UWFaith Daily Prayer Guide so people around the world are praying for LPI. Let's celebrate this focus with a Day of Giving for our 2026 mission project to fund a new Creative Arts Studio at LPI. Our goal is to raise $20,000 by November.

Creative expression is vital for the students who deal with the harsh realities of crossing the border every day. Being able to safely explore their God-given gifts through art, music, and dance is a pathway to healing. As believers across the nation lift up LPI on Thursday, we need your prayers to help bring in these vital funds. Please consider making a gift to turn those faithful prayers into tangible healing! Donate on our website: uwfaithhtc.org/donate.

STOP criminalizing KIDS OF COLOR

Children as Young as 10

A Crisis of Arrests In Texas Schools!

A groundbreaking data analysis shows how districts across the state of Texas are arresting and citing children for common misbehavior. Of course, this leaves children with lasting trauma. The Texas Legislature sends schools even more police and has rejected bills to raise the age of criminal responsibility. Click to read the report and please consider mobilizing your group on one of the UWFaith ongoing legislative advocacy campaigns to interrupt the school-to-prison pipeline. Start with signing your name:
