Waterloo Region is located on the traditional territory of the Haudenosaunee Anishnaabe and Chonnonton peoples. This land, within the Haldimand tract, is promised to the Six Nations of the Grand River, taking in six miles on each side of the Grand River. We acknowledge the enduring presence of the Indigenous people with whom we share this land, and our shared responsibility to help realise the Truth and Reconciliation calls to action. | | Immigration Partnership Highlights | |

Closing the Migration Film Festival
On October 2, Waterloo Region Immigration Partnership, in collaboration with KW Multicultural Centre, hosted the closing screening of the 2026 Waterloo Region Migration Film Festival.
The event featured Journey of Resilience, a locally produced short film that tells the story of a Spanish immigrant who finds hope and strength through dance while navigating life in Canada.
The screening also featured a panel discussion with filmmaker Great Osa-oni, creating an opportunity to reflect on immigrant experiences, resilience and the importance of building welcoming communities.
A big thank you to KW Multicultural Centre for their collaboration and to everyone who joined us throughout this year's festival!

Introducing The Village Parenting Centre
After 40 years of serving the community, The Pregnancy Centre has officially become The Village Parenting Centre. The new name better reflects the full scope of the organization’s work supporting Waterloo Region families navigating pregnancy and the early years of raising children from 0 – 4 years old. The Village believes strong communities grow when families have access to compassionate care. By collaborating with community partners, the organization helps parents access the practical resources and emotional support they need to thrive.
To advance this mission, The Village is inviting the community to join Waterloo Region’s largest diaper drive. From October 1st to 31st, the Diaper Our City campaign aims to collect 500 boxes of diapers and raise $30,000 for families with limited resources. Every contribution will help provide children with the diapers they need to stay clean, dry, and healthy.
