You may remember Lance, the sweet black cat who came to us with a badly infected eye after his owner was unable to care for him. Lance is now living his best life with his Senior Cats for Senior Laps Foster, Butch, and these are the updates we live for!

Butch, who’d had—and lost—a beloved cat before he moved to his current home, missed the company a cat can provide. When his neighbor recommended June’s Senior Cat Rescue, Butch applied to become a foster. We were thrilled. Here at June’s, we believe senior citizens have so much love to give, and our cats can make the perfect companions.



Through our Senior Cats for Senior Laps program, people 65 and older can become permanent fosters for our senior cats. June’s covers all veterinary costs, and helps with food and litter, if necessary. Seniors get the joy of a loyal companion, and the senior cats have a stable, loving home in their golden years.

When we described our available cats to him, including Lance, who will need medication and lifelong care for his eye, Butch took some time to consider, and then called back to get descriptions of the cats again. This time, Lance stood out to him. Butch realized that he’d overlooked Lance before because he required a little more care than the other cats, and that other people might pass him over, too.

It wasn’t long before laid-back Lance was settling in with Butch, and the two are now inseparable. Lance is always nestled right next to Butch, watching TV or on the balcony, with a big paw out to be closer to his favorite human. And Butch, just like a cat, is a night owl. He and Lance like to take late-night walks in the halls of his building each night, with Lance leading the way.

“We take care of each other,” Butch says of the special relationship the two have. And that's what Senior Cats for Senior Laps is all about.

We’re hosting a Split the Pot raffle throughout May to benefit the amazing cats at June's Senior Cat Rescue! 50% of the proceeds go towards helping our senior cats get the care and love they deserve, and 50% goes to the winner. Talk about a win-win!

June’s is having a yard sale on May 30, and we need your help! We’re looking for people to help us set up the day before and the morning of the sale, with items and transactions during the sale, and with packing up after the sale!

• 7:30 – 10:30 a.m.: Set up and yard sale assistance
