Advising

We are excited to introduce a new member on our Advising Team, Mr. Omar Lomes! Mr. Lomes comes to us with extensive experience in education and advising. He is a former Fine Arts teacher with over eight years of experience working in higher education and Advising specifically. He has a Master’s degree in Education and has a strong passion for creative expression and student engagement. Fun facts about Mr. Lomes: He was born in Mexico, has worked as a Zumba instructor, and enjoys photography and fire spinning in his free time.

Mr. Lomes will be taking over the caseload of students from Mrs. April Kauffman, who chose to pursue another endeavor over the summer.

We have a large incoming Freshman class, and the Advising Team may need to realign and balance our caseloads as we finalize Fall enrollment. We will announce any adjustments to the Alphabetical Split and Advising assignments in early August.

Due to staffing and some course alterations over the summer, we needed to make necessary changes regarding when some courses are offered that differ from previously scheduled days and times set in the Spring. Our goal is to always offer a wide range of courses to meet our students’ needs and interests, while also maintaining high quality teaching staff.

It is possible that your schedule has been altered, so please check Teams and school email for any messages you may have received from your Advisor. Also, be sure to double check your schedule in Infinite Campus the day before school starts to see your final schedule and to avoid any confusion on the first day of school!

Thank you for your understanding and patience!

Scholarship Resources for All Grades

Did you know that it is never too early to start applying for scholarships? High School Freshmen to College Seniors should always be on the lookout for different scholarship opportunities.

Here are some resources to help get you started:

College/Career Opportunities

Professional Digital Portfolio!

Students can build a professional digital portfolio through Tallo, an online platform that connects high school and college students to jobs, internships, scholarships and colleges. Major companies recruit from this platform for highly competitive internships through Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Wal-Mart and more.

Go to https://tallo.com/talent/ to learn more!

Your copy should address 3 key questions: Who am I writing for (audience)? Why should they care (benefit)? What do I want them to do (call-to-action)?

Create a great offer by adding words like "free," "personalized," "complimentary," or "customized." A sense of urgency often helps readers take action, so consider inserting phrases like "for a limited time only" or "only 7 remaining!"
