Thanksgiving is a time for reflection, unity, and appreciation. At Covenant Community Services, we embrace this spirit by celebrating the transformative journeys of former foster youth, who have found hope and support within our community. Through personal stories of resilience and empowerment, we witness the profound impact of gratitude in their lives.
This season, we express heartfelt thanks for the unwavering support from our community, which has played a crucial role in fostering growth and opportunity for those we serve. As we gather around the table, let us remember the importance of giving and how it can ignite personal growth and change lives for the better. Together, we can continue to uplift and empower foster youth, ensuring that they feel valued and supported in their journey towards a brighter future. We are thankful for you.
At the Martin Thanksgiving we will share scripture and discuss an attitude of gratitude. There is so much negativity and division in our world. Gratitude is a powerful antidote to the depression and defeat we can feel. Below is what I will share. Please feel free to use it as well.
How an attitude of gratitude works
Be grateful every day. Live with gratitude no matter what comes your way.
“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 NKJV
- Rejoice - be glad you are a child of the King and have an eternal home that is nothing like this sin-stained layover. You have a reason to “be joyful, be delighted.”
- Pray - seek God in good times and bad. He is there and waiting for you to ask, seek, and knock (A.S.K.).
- Once you pray, leave the anxious mind behind and walk in the peace of God (Philippians 4:4-7). Philippians is another reminder to rejoice!
"Rejoice in the Lord always. Again, I will say, rejoice! Let your gentleness be known to all men. The Lord is at hand. Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Philippians 4:4-7 NKJV
- Give Thanks - Read Philippians 4:4-7 one more time. When you pray, do so with thanksgiving that God hears you and He is active in your life. Don’t fall for the doubt, discouragement, and defeat of our culture. Run to God. Seek Him and learn to understand that things may not go “your way” but you will find comfort, peace, and love in the process.
Each day, attempt to live with an attitude of gratitude. Let’s not celebrate thankfulness and gratitude one day a year but make it a lifestyle.
Happy Thanksgiving from our family to yours!
