SAHBA Assists COT Econ. & Workforce Development Efforts
Did you know that for more than a decade, SAHBA President David Godlewski has served on the City of Tucson Economic & Workforce Development Selection Committee? Godlewski is the appointee of the City Manager. In that role, he and fellow committee members, review dozens of proposals received by the City for financial assistance. The funds have been allocated by the Mayor & Council (approximately $600,000) to go towards projects that will enhance our economy, grow our workforce, and increase tourism. The proposals are carefully reviewed and analyzed. The Committee spends hours going through the details to make a recommendation to the Mayor & Council. The process for this round of funding has just been initiated with final decisions coming in the next few months during budget discussions.

Marana's State of the Town
Marana's State of The Town event was held last week in partnership with the Marana Chamber of Commerce. The theme of "Home Is Here" was featured by Mayor Ed Honea and insightful guest speakers from Chasse Building Team, Marana Food Bank, and CTI Inc. The key takeaways emphasized Marana's growth, the importance of relationships and family, and the anticipation of thrilling opportunities ahead.

Transit-Oriented Development Update
SAHBA provided comments at the most recent Pima County Planning and Zoning Commission meeting on an agenda item focusing on a zoning code text amendment aimed at promoting transit-oriented development and increasing housing options along major transportation routes. The proposed Transit-Oriented Development amendment included guidelines and incentives to encourage residential development on existing properties. SAHBA successfully advocated for the inclusion of single-family residences in the language of the amendment and expanded the transit stop distance from one-quarter of a mile to half a mile. The motion PASSED 7-0. We look forward to working with the Board of Supervisors to see this amendment passed.
