Officially opening the doors of the Hope Alliance Vision Center in Moab, UT

In 2017, our journey to bring vision care to Moab, Utah began with pop-up clinics at the Moab Free Health Clinic. Our one-day clinics served approximately 40 members of the community. However, we recognized that the need for our services was vast and that we could transform the lives of many Utahns by expanding our efforts. Our growth was swift, from twice a year to four times a year, and from hosting two-day clinics to three-day clinics, then expanding our pop-up clinics to local elementary school campuses. As our efforts multiplied, it became clear that a permanent home was necessary.

Dr. Scott Farrell, Hope Alliance Trustee

Finally, after years of hard work and dedication, the Hope Alliance Vision Center in Moab opened its doors this March. This is an achievement for Hope Alliance, the Moab Free Health Clinic, and the Southeast Utah community.

The center will provide much-needed vision care to Southeast Utah residents who lack basic eye care. We are thrilled to witness the fruits of our labor and know that our impact will be felt for years.

We’ll see our wonderful Moab patients again at our Hope Alliance Vision Clinic on May 4-6!

A huge thank you to Dr. Farrell for donating the equipment for our first permanent vision clinic!

July 2022 Uganda Vision Expedition

We are proud to announce our upcoming Vision Expedition to Uganda from August 2 - 15, 2023! We will join forces with the Bwindi Community Hospital to provide eye care to Ugandan people in need. There is an insufficiency of qualified eye doctors in Uganda to meet the population's needs. Of the 8 optometrists in Uganda, 7 practice in Kampala. Uganda has one of the world's lowest ophthalmologists per capita ratios, 1:1.5 million.

Following our successful post-pandemic expedition in July of 2022, where we helped over 1,400 Ugandans regain clear vision, we are eager to return to this beautiful country. This trip is particularly special because we will be visiting the site of our future permanent Hope Alliance Vision Center in Bwindi. Our mission is to create sustainable care models wherever we serve, and partnering with Bwindi Community Hospital and the Kellermann Foundation is a significant step towards achieving sustainable vision care.

Join us on this expedition! The deadline to sign up as a participant is 4/15. If you are interested, please send an email to lisam@thehopealliance.org.
