Congregational Prayer focus for October from Colossians 1:8-12:
And so, from the day we heard, we have not ceased to pray for you, asking that you may be filled with the knowledge of his will in all spiritual wisdom and understanding, so as to walk in a manner worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing to him: bearing fruit in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; being strengthened with all power, according to his glorious might, for all endurance and patience with joy; giving thanks to the Father, who has qualified you to share in the inheritance of the saints in light.
“As we are in a season of transition and starting new ministries for our community, help us to be patient with one another and with you, waiting on your perfect timing. Help us to endure, not by our own resources or in our own strength, but in that which only you can provide.”
Further prayer points:
1. Genesis 3: 6-7 NASB “When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate, and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened and they knew that they were naked and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves loin coverings.” Father God, it is so easy for us to sin, often without thinking. Teach us Father, to seek Your guidance and check our actions with Your word before we act. Thank You Father for giving us the Holy Spirit who warns us before we act. Would You help us to be diligent listeners to His warnings? As believers we have an Advocate who pleads our case and offers us forgiveness. Thank You, Father.
2. Psalm 58: 7-11 NASB (Our prayer to You, Father!)
“My heart is steadfast, O God, my heart is steadfast;
I will sing, yes, I will sing praises!
Awake, my glory!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
I will give thanks to You, O Lord, among the peoples;
I will sing praises to You among the nations.
For Your lovingkindness is great to the heavens
And Your truth to the clouds.
Be exalted above the heavens, O God;
Let Your glory be above all the earth.” Amen
