THIS SUNDAY

Sunday, March 22, 2026

Join us as we get closer and closer to the honoring of the Passion and the celebration of the Resurrection on this fourth Sunday in March for the fifth Sunday of Lent. We're taking a break from our exploration of the Gospel of John this week to examine the plaintive Psalm 130 and the valley of the dry bones in Ezekiel with a special message from Pastor Don Ackerman. Both our handbell choir and the Crossroads choir will offer lovely Lenten music, and Julie Smith and the Sunday School team will continue their guidance of our children through this season leading to Easter.

Our two readings this Sunday are:

Psalm 130

Ezekiel 37: 1 - 14

Everyone is always welcome to worship here at Crossroads, and when we take Communion, everyone is always welcome at the Lord's table. So please tell your friends, coworkers or neighbors who may be looking for a church home about us! We worship every week in our sanctuary at 10:00 am.

Palm Sunday

The Sunday of the Passion

Sunday, March 29, 2026

Join us on Sunday, March 29 for this very special Palm Sunday/Passion service where we will follow the story of Jesus from his triumphant arrival into Jerusalem all the way through to the Last Supper and the Passion.

We will take Communion together at the same moment in the Passion that Jesus and his disciples did, and then we will end in solemn silence as Jesus is crucified. This unique experience will take the place of our Maundy Thursday service.

Good Friday

Combined Service at St. Paul's Episcopal Church

Friday, April 3, 2026 - 7:00 pm

We are continuing our annual tradition of having a combined Good Friday service with our friends at St Paul's Episcopal just down the street. Last year we hosted in our sanctuary, so this year we are back in the beautiful worship space at St Paul's. This is always a moving and meditative service, so please come!

This is From the Archives, where we present something from our extensive collection of archival photos, records and all manner of materials dating back to when the church was First Methodist Episcopal, to First Methodist, to Church of the Savior, to St. Paul's to Crossroads.

There are a few very long-running traditions at this church that have survived not only for decades, but have also survived through church name changes. The weekly men's prayer breakfast is one such tradition. This week's archives entry is related to men having breakfast, a program from when the men of the then Church of the Savior sponsored a special breakfast for the Bishop of the East Ohio area, Francis Kearns.

This was a special occasion that merited its own printed bulletin, and included several guests from other churches (very likely clergy). There are also some venerable Church of the Savior names listed as being on the committee that planned it.

There is no date on this program, but given where it was found in the archives, this special Bishop's Breakfast probably took place in late March or early April of 1971, very likely a week or two before Palm Sunday that year.
