New York State lawmakers overwhelmingly passed the Clean Water, Clean Air, and Green Jobs Environmental Bond Act, a historic piece of legislation that will fund critical environmental protection and restoration projects throughout the state while supporting nearly 100,000 good jobs. Now, it’s up to voters to flip the ballot and vote yes on Proposition 1 in the general election on November 8. 
Projects supported by the Bond Act will: 

• Safeguard clean drinking water, preventing contamination and pollution 

• Update aging or failing water and sewer infrastructure 

• Build renewable energy at public facilities 

• Retrofit state buildings to be energy efficient 

• And more!
As a coalition member, AIA New York State supports the Bond Act because it will invest over $2 billion in climate change mitigation and flood risk restoration to strengthen resiliency in the built environment. The Bond Act will also dedicate at least $400 million for energy-efficient retrofits to state-owned buildings, SUNY/CUNY campuses, community colleges, and public schools.
