As part of the Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) program, students will now have an opportunity to earn free books by completing their monthly reading calendar. They can also win a book if they win the weekly drawing hosted by the program for being Ready, Respectful, and Responsible. The books will be distributed by Inchy's Bookwork Vending Machine, which the Student Council purchased. Books will be free to students and are supplied from funds by the Marlette Student Council, PBIS funding, and community support.
The machine is hosted in the lobby at Marlette Elementary School. Students who hand in their weekly reading calendars for March is Reading month will win books starting March 6, 2022.
"Students are enjoying the rewards they receive from reading, and this vending machine is filled with stories that will take children on journeys across the world," stated Superintendent Matt Karaffa. "It will be magnificent to see the growth that students have with reading before the end of the school year. This is an excellent tool to help promote literacy", said Karaffa.
