A Message from County Executive

Adam J. Bello:

"As the summer heats up and we spend more time outside, Monroe County has a variety of activities for you and your family to enjoy – from Movies in the Park and Concerts by the Shore to accessible boating, and hiking and biking in various County parks. It’s time to slow down a little bit and reflect at the year’s mid-way point, which we did recently at my State of the County address at the George Eastman Museum. Thanks to all of our County employees who make our work possible, and keep us safe and healthy during the summer months and all year long!"

What's New

The 2025 State of Monroe County

I recently presented the State of the County address and reflected on how Monroe County is grounded in legacy, driven by innovation, and united by a shared belief that the best is still ahead of us. As we move forward, we will stay focused what truly matters: people, progress, and possibility. Whether it is improving neighborhoods, strengthening public safety, or creating a thriving environment for families, workers, and businesses, the state of our county is strong.

Gillett Road Bridge Repairs Underway

After 18 months of persistent advocacy, CSX Railroad has agreed to move forward with repairs to the Gillett Road bridge in the Town of Ogden. This long-awaited project—expected to take 6 to 8 weeks—will re-open the bridge, improving emergency response times and daily commutes for local residents.

New ADA Accessible Canoe and Kayak Launch at Churchville Park

We want everyone to join in on the fun with improvements in accessibility and inclusivity across our county parks. The new ADA accessible canoe and kayak launch at Churchville Park features a floating dock, ramp, additional straps and handles, and an ADA transfer platform so people with limited mobility can easily transfer into a boat.

Healthcare Shouldn’t Depend on Your ZIP Code

St. Joseph’s Neighborhood Center’s new Medical Outreach and Engagement Vehicle brings care directly to the neighborhoods that need it most. Thanks to ARPA funding, we’re closing health gaps and meeting people where they are.

William T. Perkins Veterans Center at the Frederick Douglass Greater Rochester International Airport

We’re proud to open this new space that honors all who serve — a place for reunions, remembrance, and public education. Named in honor of Marine Cpl. William T. Perkins, a Rochester native and the only combat photographer ever awarded the Medal of Honor, this center pays tribute to his courage and ultimate sacrifice in Vietnam on October 12, 1968.

RCSD School Year Celebrations

The end of the school year brings meaningful milestones. I was honored to administer the oath for the new Safety Patrol Officers at Abraham Lincoln School No. 22 and present Mr. Noel Colon, a teaching assistant at the school, with a Key to the County for his incredible dedication to students and lasting impact on young lives.

Diverse businesses drive our economy forward. This month we celebrated the 2025 Top 50 MWBEs with the Rochester Chamber of Commerce —recognizing the innovation, leadership, and resilience that strengthen our community. Congratulations to all!
