What's happening this week:

How is summer almost over? I swear we were just talking about Memorial Day last week but now it is the end of July and everyone is taking that last minute summer trip before all the fun of the school year starts back up again.

Ok, we are a little pork heavy on the sales this week in Western Springs, but why not? It's the other white meat, right?

First up is the Marinated Teriyaki Pork Stir Fry. This dish is made with tender strips of pork loin that is marinated in a teriyaki marinade and mixed with snap peas, carrots, onions and water chestnuts and is best served over a bed of rice and then topped with chow mein noodles! It is a great meal in no time!!

Next up is our Marinated Butterflied Pork Chops. These chops are center cut from a boneless loin nice and thick and then butterflied for easier grilling or pan frying. Those chops by themselves are great but then we add one of our wonderful marinades to them and this week we will have at least 2 flavors to choose from, so stop on in and check out what we have ready for you!!

There are a few things I remember vividly from my college days, however few those were, and one of the main memories was that greasy little place on the corner that sold Gyros all night long. Nothing was better at 3 am after "studying" than a big greasy Gyro. As I have gotten older and my "studying" habits and diet have changed those late night greasy Gyros would not sit well BUT now I don't have to miss them because we have our Ground Lamb Mini Gyros on sale this week!! These are best cooked in the oven at 350 for 25-30 minutes or flattened out and grilled/pan fried just like a burger, but you know what the best part is, you don't have to eat them at 3 am!!

Also this week we have our Steak Tips on sale. Our Steak Tips are made from the first cuts of all of our steaks, the ones that would still be great but just would not look great in the display so we cut them into strips for things like Stroganoff or a beef stir fry. They are always very tender and delicious and great for just about any meal that calls for strips of steak!!

If we were to rank the dips in the deli, we all know that the Chili con Queso would come out on top every time but that has not always been the case. Our Homemade Spinach Dip was the OG dip and to this day we still tons of this delicious dip, so grab yourself some of your favorite crackers or a bag of baby carrots an enjoy!!

I am finally back out to Iowa for RAGBRAI again this year after a couple years off. It may not be the world that I am seeing but Iowa is pretty nice....if you like corn and soybeans.:
