Hello Watershed Volunteers,
This has been a busy year for WVP with workshops, trainings, monitoring efforts, and more recently restoration projects! Together, we have done a lot during 2021 so far to make a positive impact on NEO water quality and quality of life. We wouldn’t be able to do the work if it wasn’t for you. Thank you for making such a great impact as watershed stewards!
To see reflections and data from the first half of this year, check out the WVP 2021 Q1 and Q2 report here. The report can also be found on the About Us page of the WVP website.
Thanks,
Breoni Turner
Community Science Assistant
P.S. Want to do more throughout Cleveland Metroparks? You can be a part of developing the park district's Strategic Plan at the in-park or virtual community open houses. Details here.

Watershed Stories: Turbidity Tube
|
|
In September 2021, you might have read the article about the Secchi disk and how it’s used to measure water transparency or turbidity. Turbidity is the degree to which light penetration is blocked by suspended solids (soil, sediments, algae). Another tool that is commonly used by scientists to measure water clarity is called a turbidity tube.
The turbidity tube is utilized by government agencies, non-profit organizations and educational institutions across the country due to its simplicity and affordability. Here at WVP, we frequently use the turbidity tube when collecting water quality data as well as doing habitat and aquatic organism surveys.
