Note from the President

Greetings Branch Members,

Our Branch Honors Recitals are coming up on Saturday April 20th. I hope you have reached out to Gloria Ho and enrolled your CM students that are eligible for this special recognition. The deadline for our branch scholarships are also coming up later this month. Please check the information on our website if you think you have a qualified applicant. Our branch pops concert is also just around the corner, it is not too late to sign students up to perform in an ensemble of Disney themed music.

We are almost through the year, I hope to see you at one of our events before the summer break. We will again be hosting a branch general meeting picnic in September, please keep an eye on the coming newsletter regarding more info for that event.

Warm Regards,
Phil Halseth

Please check for emails regarding the times and sign ups. Gloria Ho will be setting up the schedule, please work with her to help make both recital locations a success. We look forward to hearing our students perform.
MSSL Updates

Thank you for the wonderful performance in March! Our April performance will be at Carefield Memory Care, 4115 Mohr Ave, Pleasanton, CA 94566 on Sunday, 4/21 from 3-4 pm. Officers will arrive at 2:30pm. This is a new place for our recital and the staff would like a picture of the performers' COVID vaccination records ahead of time. Please upload it to the form linked below.
Here are our rules regarding participation in these events:
  1. The time limit for pieces is 9 minutes. If you would like to play something longer, please contact us beforehand.
  2. The dress code for all events is always business casual—that is, no jeans or sneakers.
  3. We will make memorization optional. While we would prefer memorized pieces, we understand it is still early in the year and many of you are still working on new pieces. Therefore, we will make memorization optional, but if you need a page-turner, do let us know so we can prepare ahead of time. We want to avoid messy page turns that disrupt the performance.
  4. Please bring your own music supplies like stands and sheet music. We will not be able to provide anything except for page turners.

Spots often fill up quickly, so sign up as soon as possible. Thank you all for your participation!

Best,
MSSL Officers

Please send all inquiries regarding future MSSL recital dates to the MSSL directly, thank you.
