Looking Back—and Ahead—at 2025

"The first half of 2025 has been a special chapter for all of us at KCI Construction. As we’ve expanded across Colorado’s western slope, eastern plains, and Colorado Springs—and even into Minnesota and North Dakota—we’ve never lost sight of where our story began. The Front Range will always be the heart of our work and the place that grounds us. It’s here, with our clients, partners, and communities, that we’ve built relationships that feel more like family than business.

As we look toward the second half of the year, we’re excited to carry forward our experience in so many areas—general commercial, affordable housing, religious, education, municipal, and civil infrastructure—but what matters most is the people who make it all possible. To our incredible team: your dedication, talent, and heart are what bring these projects to life. To our partners: your trust and collaboration mean everything to us.

We’re grateful to be on this journey with you, and we can’t wait to see what the rest of 2025 holds—together, right here at home and beyond."

KCI Civil Update | Building the Path Forward

The transportation industry continues to evolve—demanding smarter infrastructure, safer streets, and faster project turnarounds. At KCI, we understand that public safety is non-negotiable and that every civil project must be executed with precision, planning, and purpose.

From urban arterials in downtown Denver to large-scale infrastructure upgrades, our team brings decades of hands-on experience coordinating with local jurisdictions, utility providers, and trusted subcontractors. We pride ourselves on seamless project execution, whether it’s a 24/7 emergency closure or a long-term corridor improvement plan.

At KCI, we don’t just build roads and walkways—we help communities move forward. Our civil teams bring grit, grace, and discipline to every project, ensuring the path ahead is built to last.

OUR CIVIL PROJECTS

AMTRAK, Granby, CO. | On Track in Granby.

Our KCI team is hard at work in Granby, Colorado where this project is moving full steam ahead.

This two-season effort began in fall 2024 and will wrap up before winter 2025, delivering a full platform replacement complete with upgraded lighting, guardrail, parking, drainage improvements, and a modern electric snow-melt system. To ensure quality and efficiency, the project has also drawn on the expertise of multiple local mountain subcontractors. This project has been designed to enhance both functionality and passenger comfort.

We’re proud to help strengthen Colorado’s transportation infrastructure and look forward to sharing more updates as we bring this platform to life.

AMTRAK, Detroit Lakes, MN. | Detroit Lakes Amtrak Platform Project.

In April 2025, KCI began work on the Detroit Lakes Amtrak station, launching a platform improvement project scheduled for completion in November 2025. The scope includes removal of the existing platform, installation of new utilities and lighting, and construction of an ADA-compliant parking area with accessible routes connecting both the building and the platform.

These upgrades will improve safety, accessibility, and passenger comfort—ensuring the Detroit Lakes station continues to serve the community for years to come.

RTD, Denver, CO. | Downtown Denver Light Rail Reconstruction.

KCI proudly partnered with RTD on the full-depth reconstruction of five major light rail intersections and track crossings in Downtown Denver, located at 15th and California, 15th and Stout, 17th and California, 17th and Stout, and 19th and Broadway. The work required complete removal and replacement of aging infrastructure, including tracks, ties, ballast, and concrete paving. Crews installed new geotextile fabric, fresh ballast, and concrete ties, set 115 RE rail with e-clips and flangeway filler, poured embedded trackway concrete, and placed precast StarTrack panels with leveling pads to enhance long-term durability.

Equally important was KCI’s focus on communication and coordination. Our team led a comprehensive public outreach effort to ensure adjacent businesses and downtown visitors were kept informed about traffic and parking impacts throughout construction. Working closely with RTD and the City of Denver, we strategically scheduled each phase to minimize road closures and detours. This project represents a major investment in the strength and reliability of Denver’s light rail network, ensuring it can continue to serve the community for decades to come.

A Longmont, CO native, she loves swing and line dancing, fishing, hiking, and is starting to get into hunting.

RON GRACE.

Please join us in giving a warm welcome to Ron Grace, who recently joined KCI as a Superintendent!

Ron brings over 30 years of hands-on construction experience, leading both residential and commercial projects from planning through completion. He’s known for his field expertise, commitment to high-quality craftsmanship, and strong leadership on and off the job site.

Outside of work, Ron is crazy about his wife Dawn of 30 years, and proud to be a dad to two sons serving our country — one in the Air Force and one in the Marine Corps. When he’s not on a job site, you might find him drag racing or spending time in his greenhouse.

Welcome to the KCI family, Ron — we’re thrilled to have you on board!

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our incredible clients.

Your continued support and trust mean everything to us. Without you, we wouldn’t be here—building, growing, and pushing boundaries together.

Thank you for being such an essential part of the KCI story. We’re truly honored to serve as your construction partner.

Tee Off for a Cause:

KCI’s 6th Annual Golf Tournament!

We had the honor of presenting a check to The Inn Between of Longmont, Inc. from our annual golf tournament — together, we raised $42,414.20!

This incredible amount represents more than just dollars…it represents hope, housing, and second chances for families in our community. None of this would have been possible without the golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and friends who showed up with such generous hearts.

From the bottom of our hearts — THANK YOU. You helped us turn a day on the course into a lasting impact for so many.
