Delayed Opening 6/3/26

Both branches of TCFL will have a delayed opening on Wednesday, June 3 due to a scheduled staff meeting.

The Easton Branch will open at 11:00 a.m. and the St. Michaels Branch will open at 12:00 p.m.

Children's Book Festival!

The Talbot County Free Library is gearing up to celebrate the 11th Annual Chesapeake Children’s Book Festival (CCBF), on Saturday, June 6th, from 10:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. at the Easton Branch on 100 W Dover Street.

The festival is a free, one-day event that celebrates early literacy, community, and the joy of reading — rain or shine. It’s also the launch of the Talbot County Free Library’s popular Summer Reading Program. Attendees can look forward to a variety of activities for the entire family, including author readings, crafts, games, giveaways, music, and more. Children who sign up at the Festival for Summer Reading will receive a voucher for one free book from one of the 22 visiting authors while supplies last.

Author Talk: "Anchors" with Cathy Schmidt

Join us as we escape back to 1970s Oxford, Maryland with author Cathy Schmidt's debut novel, Anchors. Cathy will speak about her novel with a book signing to follow.

Cathy is the author of "The Oxford Vignettes,” and is an Eric Hoffer Book Award finalist.

Blood Bank of Delmarva Blood Drive

Friday, May 29th

11:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.

The Talbot County Free Library and the Blood Bank of Delmarva (BBD) are hosting a blood drive at the Easton Branch of TCFL.

As of Oct 1, 2023, BBD is accepting 16-year-old donors with a signed permission slip. Donations are critical in the United States. Donate today, save a life tomorrow.

"Name the Character" Contest on until June 5th!

There's still time to enter our raffle and win some great prizes - including the chance to name a character in award-winning author Susan Reiss's upcoming book, Divided in Time! Tickets can be purchased online at tcfl.org or in-person at the Easton and St. Michaels library branches using cash or check. All proceeds from the raffle will go toward supporting TCFL’s programs and services.

Featured Youth Programming

Summer Reading Begins June 1st!

The 2026 Summer Reading Program begins on June 1st! Readers ages birth - 18 can register online or in-person at either branch of TCFL to pick up a gameboard and complete it by July 31st to win fun prizes, including gift cards, tickets to state attractions such as the National Aquarium and Orioles games, and more! Turn in gameboards by August 15th to win!

Readers who register for Summer Reading at the Chesapeake Children's Book Festival on Saturday, June 6th can receive a voucher for a FREE book from one of the visiting authors (while supplies last)!

Join the Frederick Douglass Reading Challenge!

Unearth the Story of Frederick Douglass! From June 1 - September 1, read a biography of Frederick Douglass and write a short paragraph about what you learned on the entry form, and turn it into the library by September 1 to be eligible to win 1 of 8 gift card prizes. Register and pick up a gameboard at either branch of TCFL. This reading challenge is sponsored by the Frederick Douglass Honor Society.
