In Our Prayers

  • In a time of tension and fear throughout our nation and in our world, we ask for protection for all who are vulnerable, and comfort for those living in fear. We pray for guidance for our leaders so that we might move away from violence and towards justice, mercy, and a future where all people can live in safety and dignity.

  • Prayers continue for Betty Roodal and her recovery from recent ankle surgery. May strength and healing come quickly -- we miss her!

"ONE GREAT HOUR OF SHARING"

SPECIAL OFFERING FOR

PC USA HUNGER, DISASTER, & DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANCE

For over 70 years, One Great Hour of Sharing has provided Presbyterians a way to share God's love with our neighbors in need around the world.

In a world of disaster, hunger, and oppression, millions of people lack access to

sustainable food sources, clean water, sanitation, education, and opportunity.

One Great Hour of Sharing is the single largest way that Presbyterians come together every year to work for a better world. Each gift to One Great Hour of Sharing helps improve the lives of the suffering and the vulnerable through three life-saving programs:

  • Presbyterian Disaster Assistance- Restore streets to live in.
  • Presbyterian Hunger Programs-Share your Bread with the Hungry.
  • Self-Development of People-Loose the Bonds of Injustice

All three programs work in different ways to serve individuals and communities in

need from initial disaster response to ongoing community development. Their work fits together to provide people with safety, sustenance, and hope.

Traditionally received during the season of Lent, each gift to OGHS helps to improve

the lives of people in these challenging situations. The Offering provides us a way

to share God's love with our neighbors in need.

Donations to OGHS can be made by using the blue envelopes in the church pews (in the coming weeks), or, by sending LAC's Bookkeeper, Gloria Haq, a check, or by using Realm.

Thank you.

Easter Sunday Flower Cross

Last year, Larchmont Avenue Church started a new Easter tradition, inviting the congregation and public to add flowers and greenery to our Flower Cross on Easter Sunday.

Built of wood and wire mesh, the cross will once again be situated outside of our sanctuary near the Larchmont Avenue entrance. As Easter worshipers enter the church, all are invited to place a cut flower or greenery somewhere on the cross. So, if possible, please remember to bring a small floral offering from your household (or pick up a few flowers at a local market). [Note that a limited supply will also be provided at the foot of the cross.] As the structure gradually fills with color and life, it will grow into a beautiful and inspiring symbol of the faith, hope, and love of Easter Sunday -- a witness that stands proud and proclaims the triumph of God's goodness and grace to all who pass.

Help us share our Easter joy with our community!

Add your simple gifts to the Flower Cross.

LAC'S ANNUAL RUMMAGE SALE...

By now, everyone knows our Annual Rummage Sale is a community favorite. A thrifter and environmentalist's dream! The sale is filled with treasures and buys galore of items rescued from the landfill to live again -- reimagined and repurposed.

Likely, everyone also knows that the proceeds from the Rummage Sale go to support our local mission partners in the important work they do.

Here's a snapshot of how Community Counseling Center (CCC) used its LAC grant monies last year....

With funds from LAC, the CCC funded a fellowship for two graduate students. These professionals provided counseling, innovative parent center programs, and life skills education in Mamaroneck schools. According to director Mark Levy, these fellows are vital members of the Community Counseling Center team and have helped the CCC meet the needs of local students and families.

This is a powerful display of rummage sale proceeds at work.

Be sure to mark your calendars to donate, or shop, or volunteer, or maybe all three to help make a difference in our community.

By clicking the graphic above or following this link, you will find more details about this year's sale, including a

volunteer sign up page!
