What do you bring to camp?
We ask campers to bring the following items to camp permanently labeled with their name:
  • Backpack to contain all personal belongings for the day
  • Sunscreen (lotions are strongly encouraged over sprays to help ensure adequate application); each of our camps schedule sunscreen application every two hours and after swimming
  • Water bottle
  • 2 masks/face coverings to be used on vans, Field trips and in LPS spaces
  • Tennis shoes (sandals, flip-flops, etc., are not safe options for camp activities, However Flip flops can be worn to and from the pool)
  • Book or other reading material
  • A Lunch
  • Towel and swimwear on scheduled swimming days; regardless of morning weather or the day's forecast
  • Blue camp t-shirt on scheduled field trip days (campers who were unable to attend Open House will receive their t-shirts the first week they attend camp)
Please keep money, cell phones, tablets, e-readers, toys, trading cards, and items of monetary or sentimental value at home!

Please Remember! Campers need to bring their own breakfast and/or lunch that is permanently labeled with their first and last name. Meals from home should be stored in insulated containers with self-contained cold packs. The center does not provide meal refrigeration or microwave use.

If there are any special considerations that you feel we need to be aware of regarding your child (medications, allergies, behavioral problems, illnesses, etc.), please let our summer staff know as well as the office.

It is our goal to ensure that each child has an enjoyable and fulfilling experience as a participant in our program.

We will plan to have 1 Field trip away from the rec center per week and Swimming 2 times per week.

We will always emphasize positive ways to deal with difficult situations. Children must stay with their designated camp leaders. They must ask permission to use the restroom, join other activities, early departure, etc. This is to ensure the safety of the campers.

Everyone is here to have fun! Bullying, dangerous play and violence will not be tolerated. Our policies on discipline include verbal warnings, one-on-one discussions, time outs, parent conferences, and possible removal from the program.

Reminder: Camp closes at 5:30

Face covering at camp

Effective with May 21 changes to Lincoln Lancaster County Health Department requirements and guidance for childcare facilities, it is recommended (but not required) campers wear a face covering. Face covering will be required when entering LPS school buildings. LPS face covering expectations for May 21 through August 13 require students in grades K-8 to wear a face covering in school buildings. All Irving campers should bring a face covering daily since some of our program activities will occur in Irving School. Staff who are not fully vaccinated will be required to wear a face covering anytime they are interacting with others in indoor locations and other enclosed settings (e.g., vehicles). Any camper or staff may wear a face covering if they choose.
