Dear Grade 4 and 5 Families,

We are excited to invite interested students in grades 4-5 to join the Lower School Math Club! Facilitated by fifth grade teacher Nick Peck, the Math Club will provide students with opportunities to explore mathematics beyond the classroom through engaging problems, collaborative challenges, games and mathematical thinking.

Math Club will meet every other Thursday after school until 4:30 p.m. in Mr. Peck’s classroom (LC 101). Math Club dates are listed at the bottom of this letter so that you can plan accordingly in order for your children to attend every Math Club session if they choose to join. Please also plan for your children to stay for the full Math Club session until 4:30 p.m.

If your children would like to participate, please complete the Math Club Interest Form no later than Thursday, October 1. Students who sign up will be assigned to the Math Club activity in SchoolPass on meeting days.

On the interest form, please also indicate your child’s dismissal plan for Math Club days:

• Carline – an adult will pick up your child at 4:30 p.m.
• CASE – your child will transition to CASE following Math Club. Students must already be registered for CASE to select this option, and CASE charges will apply.

Students will also have the opportunity to participate in an optional math competition in March; participation in the competition is not required to be a member of the Lower School Math Club.
