Good Evening,
As was the case long before the COVID-19 crisis hit, I hope this message finds you well.
I'd like to start by wishing a safe and speedy recovery to
Congresswoman Nydia Velazquez
, who has been diagnosed with a presumed COVID-19 infection. It is indisputable that she, and her excellent staff, fight for our community every day and,
as her statement noted
, that will continue as she fights off this virus.
That hard work, for example, has resulted in help for small businesses. As you know, we daily ask you to support local businesses, if at all possible. Resources, such as information on how to help small businesses and other items can be found by scrolling below my email signature.
Before scrolling down to those resources and items of interest, it's important to keep driving home why it's vital that we
STAY HOME
.
Yesterday there were 66,6497 confirmed COVID-19 cases in
New York State
, 33,474 in
New York Cit
y
, and 8,887 in Brooklyn. Now there are 75,795 confirmed COVID-19 cases in
New York State
,
40,900 in New York City, and 10,904 in Brooklyn
.
COVID-19 doesn't discriminate. So, please, unless you are needed on the front lines, stay at home, if you are among those keeping society intact,
THANK YOU
.
So, when something like a ship comes in,
don't gather to see
it. I love arrivals too, but staying home, as we social distance, is
our best and proven option
. As a teaser, I want you to know that we are working on setting up an informational (via Zoom) BKCB6 meeting in the near future. When it is set up and confirmed, I'll let everyone know.
Michael Racioppo, District Manager
Brooklyn Community Board 6
P.S Please forgive any typos or brain freezes in the text as I get these updates out in haste at the end of the day, and if there is a community-centric item you think I should know about
