Sherman ISD Plans Stadium Groundbreaking on February 6

Sherman ISD will celebrate the kickoff of construction of the new multipurpose stadium at Sherman High School on Thursday, Feb. 6 at 4:30 p.m.

This event is open to the public and will take place near the existing concession stand and home side bleachers west of the athletic field. Parking will be available in the areas surrounding the Multipurpose Athletic Center (MAC).

Go Behind-the-Scenes at Elementary Construction Sites

Sherman ISD is sharing a behind-the-scenes look at construction progress of our new elementary schools. Last weekend, you may have spotted a helicopter overhead in Sherman as crews delivered rooftop heating and cooling units at the new Crutchfield and Fairview elementary schools.

The three new campuses – replacements for Crutchfield and Fairview, as well as a brand-new campus at Heritage Ranch – will open to students and staff this fall, with attendance boundaries set later this spring.

Piner Cheer Team Wins National Championship

The Piner Middle Cheer Team traveled to Dallas and won big at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) High School Nationals Competition.

The team won the National Championship for Crowd Performance by a Non-Building Junior High with a score of 92.54. This is the second year in a row the team has achieved this national championship. The team also received Best Use of Jumps and Best Use of Props in their performance. Way to go, ladies!

Early Childhood Registration Begins Soon!

It’s almost time to register your 3 or 4 year old for the 2025-26 school year! 

Sherman ISD offers full-day Early Head Start, Head Start and Pre-Kindergarten for free to those residing in Sherman ISD who meet age and eligibility requirements. These programs and services focus on building a strong foundation for our youngest learners while supporting their families in preparing for a bright future!

Start the application process on one of the following dates – staff will be available to assist with the online application:

• Friday, February 14 from 12 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. at Sory 
• Tuesday, March 25 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Neblett 
• Saturday, March 29 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m. at Neblett

Don't Miss This Course Selection Information!

New and returning middle school students are beginning the process to select their courses for the 2025-26 school year. Families of 5th-7th grade students were recently invited to a course selection information night. If you missed the event, presentations are available for you to review anytime! 

For current 8th grade families getting ready to advance to high school, there is an incoming 9th grade family night coming up on Tuesday, February 4 at 6 p.m. in the Sherman High School Auditorium. Parents will hear more about high school course options, graduation requirements and the course selection process.

SISD to Host Informational Webinar on Feb. 18 Regarding STAAR

Join Sherman ISD for an informational webinar on Tuesday, February 18 to learn more about the upcoming STAAR tests.Testing begins in third grade and continues through End-of-Course exams at the high school level.

The webinar, scheduled from 5:30 to 6 p.m., will include an overview of the exams, including upcoming testing dates, subjects and grade levels, as well as preparation tips and strategies for supporting student success at home.

Advance registration is recommended. The webinar will be also recorded and archived on our website to view afterwards.

Join Sherman Bearcat Athletics in celebrating our SHS athletes for National Signing Day! A short ceremony on Wednesday, February 5 at 8 a.m. in the Competition Gym will honor 2025 signees moving on to play at the next level.

Don’t miss your Bearcat Baseball and Lady Cat Softball teams in action as they begin their 2025 seasons! The Lady Cats will start their district season at Frisco Lebanon Trail on February 11 at 6 p.m. and your Bearcats will begin at McKinney North on March 12 at 7:30 p.m.

The Multicultural Family Center provides free educational opportunities for children and adults in Grayson County!

Registration is now open for Sherman Youth Sports Association Baseball and Softball! Be sure to sign up before the February 22 deadline at www.sysasports.com

Registration is open for the Sherman Parks & Recreation Spring Youth Flag Football League! Students in grades 1st through 8th can participate. The cost is $90. Register now until February 23 at www.shermanparks.com.
