Advocacy Alert: Attend a Governor

Budget Listening Session

We need your early childhood voices to advocate for Raising Wisconsin’s state budget priorities at Governor Tony Evers’ upcoming listening session tour, which kicks off tomorrow on Tuesday, Dec. 13 in Kenosha at 5:30 p.m. Speak directly to the Governor’s office on the importance of investments into child care and optimal health and well-being as he prepares his 2023-25 executive budget.

All participants should register to attend any of the three events at the links provided in the information below. Raising Wisconsin has developed key talking points to assist and guide your conversations at these sessions, including important background information on the importance of the investments and how they will assist early childhood providers and programs, young children, families, and communities moving forward. Listening sessions are an important opportunity to directly influence the state budget process. In-person and virtual events are welcoming environments where you’ll have the opportunity to share your name, your experience, and the importance of Raising Wisconsin’s budget asks. In the virtual session, you may be separated into smaller groups where a representative from Governor Evers’ office will take notes and provide your perspective to the Governor.

Wisconsinites also are welcome to submit written comments at any time before or after the listening sessions online. For toolkits that include resources on writing emails or letters to elected officials and policymakers, visit Raising Wisconsin’s Advocacy Tools & Resources website page.

Raising Wisconsin is powered by a multi-sector coalition led by Wisconsin Early Childhood Association (WECA). WECA is a leading state nonprofit organization, founded in 1971, that advances positive change for children by supporting and advocating for early care and education and the early childhood workforce in Wisconsin.
