CALL TO ANNUAL MEETING

You are invited to attend the

2024 Virginia PTA Annual Meeting!

On behalf of the Virginia PTA Board of Directors, I am excited to formally invite you to attend the 102nd Virginia PTA Annual Meeting on May 18th-19th in Richmond.

This once a year in-person gathering provides a unique opportunity for PTA leaders from across Virginia to come together to collaborate, learn, and celebrate.

The power of PTA lies in our commitment to collaborating with each other, and sharing successful ideas and resources. Many hands makes for light work when it comes to setting up for Bingo night, or a school carnival. The same applies when it comes to solving the challenges that face our schools.

This year, in addition to interesting speakers and a robust vendor hall, we'll also have a Family Engagement Showcase, PTA Power Panels, and Collaboration Tables. Local PTA leaders will share insights from their school community, and we'll break-out into Collaboration Tables. We're going to talk about the challenges we see and experience in our communities, and identify actions we can take within our schools to impact change.

  • Are you having a hard time finding volunteers?
  • Do you have great ideas to support military, immigrant, or special education families?
  • Are you curious how others engage students?
  • Does your school struggle with a lack of educational resources?
  • Are you looking for ways to impact student success or school safety?
  • How are others building a PTA and family engagement culture in their community?
  • Did you transform a traditional event by changing your approach?
  • Are you looking for ways to diffuse tension in your community?
  • Do you want to know how others build a culture of advocacy?

Let's talk about the challenges! Let's share and celebrate the successes! It's Full STEAM Ahead for PTA, and when we work together, with one voice, we can make a powerful impact for every child.

Join us on May 18th at the Virginia PTA Annual Meeting as we take on our shared work of building strong family to school partnerships, and engaging and empowering families to advocate for all students - together!

I look forward to seeing you soon!

Jenna Alexander, President

Bylaws Amendments

Presented this year are six (6) Bylaws Amendments. Notably included is a consolidation of the Local Unit, SEPTA, and Council Bylaws into a single Local Unit/Council PTA Uniform Bylaws document.

This consolidation project had the following goals: (1) to harmonize language and provisions across the current three sets of bylaws where there are discrepancies; (2) to make it easier for all members to review and become familiar with one document; and (3) to streamline the future amendment process and make it less error-prone.

Additionally, this consolidation project includes several changes to address concerns raised by local unit leaders. All changes are detailed in the Bylaws Report.
