Families gather for stories, crafts, and community

Storytime invites pre-schoolers to learn and play together

Our popular children's storytime program returns for the 2026-2027 season. The program runs annually from October-April and meets at 10:30A on Wednesdays.

At each weekly storytime, Ms. Nicole reads a book, encouraging children to engage with the story. Afterward, kids complete a craft together.

While building early literacy skills, storytime also promotes a sense of belonging because families gather together weekly and create community.

Attending our weekly storytime program encourages children to:

  • Build vocabulary and language skills
  • Practice listening and paying attention
  • Learn to express ideas and ask questions
  • Learn how to participate in a group
  • Build confidence and independence
  • Develop empathy through interactions
  • Connect with families in the community

Check our website for the full 2026-2027 storytime schedule.

Library receives re-accreditation

Exhaustive annual process provides benefits to the entire community

Texas libraries can apply for accreditation through the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC). We've enjoyed continuous accreditation for more than 30 years.

The annual accreditation process is rigorous and exhaustive. Requirements include yearly continuing education; keeping accurate records of a bevy of metrics throughout the year; and submitting a 26-page annual report.

Although the process is intensive, we think it's worth it.

Receiving accreditation provides many benefits to our members, including:

  • Participation in the statewide Interlibrary Loan Program, allowing our members to request books from other libraries
  • Access to the TexShare card program, which offers free library memberships to other Texas libraries
  • E-Read Texas, giving our members free access to the CloudLibrary app and 40,000 digital materials
  • Educational support for library staff, which encourages us to continually learn and adopt industry best practices

Accreditation also provides us grant opportunities, like the $73,000 grant we received in 2025 that provided upgraded computers in the library's computer lab.

Libby app to require pin number

Beginning October 15, the Libby app will require all users to enter a pin number.

For our library, your pin number is your ten-digit phone number. Enter it without parentheses or hyphens.

If you haven't heard about Libby, it's the library reading app that gives you access to e-books and audiobooks on your personal devices. Check out up to 5 digital materials at a time, and place up to 3 holds. Borrow books for 14 days. Discover more here.

Dinner for Vampires

An insightful memoir into the personal life of one of my favorite actresses from One Tree Hill. Lenz gives fans a behind-the-scenes look into not only her life on set, but also her search for herself and the turmoil that unfolds along the way. -NB

Find new books for young adults in our teen lounge, made possible through a grant from the Pizza Hut Foundation. The grant allowed us to double our shelf space for young adult (YA) books.

The publishing industry uses the term "YA" to describe books created for readers in 9th-12th grades. Content in YA books is emotionally and thematically advanced, often tackling challenging subjects.

Authors writing for teens frequently use their books to help young people process difficult topics through the safety of literature.
