Sunview Students Enjoy a Book Tasting Experience

Students in Ms. Erwin's third grade class had a rather unique fine dining experience. On the menu? Books, of course!

Students were greeted by their maître d' for the event, who escorted them to their tables, where they donned a chef's hat and moustache to really get into the tasting spirit. They heard the daily "specials" and were able to "sample" books from various genres, delivered to their table by waiters while they perused the menu.

No great dining experience is complete without breadsticks (or, in this case, pretzel rods).

We hope students found something to their taste that sparks a love for pleasure reading to last a lifetime!

Ohio School Report Card Shows Progress and Promise

The Ohio School Report Cards are out, and we’re excited to share that our district is showing positive momentum! Here are some highlights from this year’s report:

  • Overall rating: 3.5 stars
  • Graduation rate: 3 stars
  • Gap Closing: 4 stars
  • Early Literacy: 3 stars

These results show that we’re on the right track, especially with our graduation rate continuing to rise and our success in closing learning gaps.

We also know there are areas we need to keep working on, particularly in achievement and progress. While we met 6 out of 9 key points in achievement, we know we can do better. To improve, we’re focused on:

  • Adopting quality curriculum, such as our new English Language Arts curriculum
  • Refining our co-teaching model to better support students
  • Emphasizing professional development for our amazing staff

We’re proud of the progress we’re making and committed to doing even more to help every student thrive. Thank you for your continued support as we work together to provide the best education for your children.

What Does Brush Look Like Without Cell Phones?

We visited Brush High School to see how things are going without cell phones. Over the course of several lunch periods, we noticed some pretty amazing things!

We saw eye contact, laughing, card games, dancing, studying, and quiet resting.

We also saw students playing outside. We won't call it recess, because that's so embarrassing! But it sure looked a lot like recess!

Click below for a glimpse of what we saw, and some students and teachers sharing their thoughts about the first few cell phone-free weeks of school:

"Start With Hello" is This Week!

The Start With Hello Program is this week, September 16 - September 20. The K-12 Start With Hello program promotes inclusion and kindness, with the goal to help students build connections, end loneliness, and support each other.

Please look for more information from your student's school about ways to acknowledge and celebrate this important week of inclusion.

Attendance Matters at South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools!

Attendance Matters at South Euclid-Lyndhurst Schools!

Consistent school attendance is the foundation for school success. Research has shown missing 2 or more days a month (excused or unexcused) can having a lasting impact on learning.

Let’s continue to work together to ensure our students "Stay in the Game!" by showing up on time, everyday. Remember, every minute counts!

Protect Your School Device

School device insurance coverage is available for the 2024-2025 school year for $30 per year per enrolled student in the district. This coverage provides no deductible service for up to four claims or $400 in damage (some exclusions apply).
