Greetings!

May this holiday season and the New Year bring you joy, health, friendship and love.

In these challenging times, Sahaya deeply appreciates your continuous support through which we keep making positive change in the lives of many children and families, and their communities. We are determined to keep building cross-cultural bridges of friendship and support across the globe. 2019 has been a very productive year. A few highlights include:

  • Through the activities of our partner organizations in India, Vietnam and Kenya, we are currently assisting 9 school programs (including 2 special schools) that together educate more than a thousand children.
  • Via our sponsorship program, we are supporting more than 600 orphans and vulnerable children in India, Vietnam and Kenya with their education and basic needs. This includes 33 HIV-infected children and youth who, thanks to our annual Sahaya Walks, remain healthy through proper health care and nutrition.
  • We are supporting more than 50 college students in India, Vietnam and Kenya with scholarships to cover their expenses; most of them are the first ones in their families to pursue a college degree. This includes students in engineering, nursing school, medical college, nurses, and many other degrees. In 2019, one of our Sahaya-supported students, Stephen Hosea, graduated as medical doctor in Kenya. He is believed to be the first dwarf in Kenya to become medical doctor, and his story has already caught attention of the Kenyan television, and inspires other people to overcome obstacles to pursue their dreams.

  • In India, we started an agricultural program to train farmers on modern crop technologies which provide 3 to 5 fold higher yields, food items with higher nutritious value, and are also environmentally more friendly. This program is aimed at lifting up many farmers families out of poverty with long-term sustainability. Needless to say that we are very excited about this program and plan to continue building this up. Click on the picture to learn more.
  • In Vietnam, we have built so far 200 simple homes for families that had been living in uninhabitable shacks. In collaboration with Andy Lauer of Reelaid.org, a team of Sahaya volunteers traveled to Vietnam this past to get footage for a documentary that's currently in production. Click on the picture below to read more about this documentary.
Through an act of kindness, each of us is a drop that creates a ripple effect. For being part of this, we thank you, most sincerely!
Happy holidays!
