Dear Residents & Community Members,
As we have seen over the past week with the firefighting efforts in Greenwood Lake, it truly takes a Village (and more) to organize efforts and make a difference. From the brave men and women on the frontline to the volunteers working behind the scenes in organizing and making sure everyone is fed and well rested, it is a tremendous daily operation with many moving parts. We are proud of the teamwork and courage on display as efforts continue in Greenwood Lake. While much progress has been made, we continue to pray for everyone's safety and for 100% containment of the fire.
The Monroe Joint Fire District is 100% volunteer. With the holidays upon us, Mombasha Fire Company will once again be holding their annual Christmas Tree Sale Fundraiser. If you are planning to purchase a fresh cut Christmas tree this year, please consider supporting this fundraiser. For more information please visit the Mombasha Fire Company Facebook page.
The Monroe Joint Fire District is made up of (3) firehouses (Mombasha Fire Company, Harriman Engine Company and Lakeside Fire and Rescue Company). If you are interested in becoming a volunteer, please consider stopping by one of the firehouses on any Monday night around 6:30 p.m. to learn more about volunteer opportunities.
God Bless all of our volunteers and first responders.
All the best,
Tony Cardone
Supervisor, Town of Monroe
