Celebrating a Century of Suffrage
Thank you Assemblywoman Sandy Galef for bringing us together to celebrate 100 Years of Women’s Right to Vote! This weekend I was pleased to join with several women at the Ossining Historical Society to read the Declaration of Sentiments that kicked off the suffrage movement in Seneca Falls. Village Historian Dana White shared a history of suffrage, highlighting some of the Ossining women who were deeply involved in the movement.

Unfortunately last week's legislative session was cancelled at the last minute due to unexpected absences. Fortunately, October has a fifth Wednesday when we would normally not have a meeting. Lacking a quorum for last week, we have adjusted our calendar to make up for this missed meeting. We will hold a work session on October 30. This Wednesday, October 23 will begin with the special session welcoming the return of Pasquale Santucci to the Ossining Police Department. We will then move forward with the legislative session agenda.

If you would like to spread the word about an upcoming event, please take up to two minutes during Organizational Announcements. Folks who would like to comment on the resolutions included on this week's agenda may do so for up to four minutes at the start of the Village Board Resolutions portion of the meeting. The meeting closes with an invitation for community members to comment for up to three minutes during Visitor Recognition about any topic of relevance to the common good of the Village. The meeting will be held at the Birdsall-Fagan Police Court Facility on Spring Street.

Discussion on Landlord/Tenant Rights
Next Tuesday, October 29 at 7PM you are invited to attend a community conversation with Ossining’s volunteer Landlord Tenant Relations Council (LTRC) at the Ossining Library. Members will be presenting about changes to Landlord/Tenant laws recently passed in Albany, as well as letting folks how the LTRC can help you in file a request for assistance as a Landlord, Tenant or even a neighbor to a rented premises. They will also review and clarify some of the changes recently passed by Albany regarding obligations, responsibilities and rights under the new Housing Stability and Tenant Protection Act of 2019. The new statutes affect ALL landlord/tenant relationships regardless if you lease a single house or multiple unit dwelling.
