After-School Tutoring

Eric Watts, math teacher at Terra Linda Middle School, is offers free tutoring in the Homework on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays (Topic Session) from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.


The last tutoring session for the 2023-24 school year will be Thursday, June 6th.

After-School Drop-In

(Ages 10-17)

Open to all students ages 10-17. Located at the San Carlos Youth Center, 1001 Chestnut St. in Burton Park.


Hours:

Monday-Friday: 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Wednesdays: 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Summer Break:

(M-F, June 14-August 16),

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


Extended Hours:

June 13: 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

June 14 - August 16:

10:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.


Closed:

June 19 - Juneteenth

July 4 - Independence Day


*All Drop-In Member's parent/guardian must complete a 2023 - 2024 Membership and Behavior Standards form prior to attending Drop-In.

 Come celebrate with us on Thursday, June 6, at 3:00 p.m. at the San Carlos Youth Center at 1001 Chestnut Street for this ribbon cutting. Light refreshments will be served.

Thursday, June 6 at 3:00 p.m.

 

You’re invited! The San Carlos community is cordially invited to join City officials and staff, along with representatives from Peninsula Clean Energy for a special ribbon cutting event celebrating the installation of a new solar array at the San Carlos Youth Center! Hear from San Carlos Mayor John Dugan and Peninsula Clean Energy’s Chief Executive Officer Shawn Marshall.


This solar array is expected to generate 817,000 kWh over the next 20 years and will advance the City's climate mitigation and adaptation goals.


Adventure Camp Registration is OPEN!


Weekly Day Camps throughout the summer for kids ages 4-12 years. Join friends – and make new friends – in these summer camps filled will all sorts of fun adventures. Drop your campers off between 8:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m., camp activities will begin at 9:00 a.m.

About the Youth Advisory Council


Attend a YAC meeting on the second Wednesday of each month at the Youth Center! The next YAC meeting will take place Wednesday, August 28th from 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.


The Youth Advisory Council (YAC) is a group of volunteer middle school and high school students appointed by the City Council. The YAC’s role is to advise the Parks & Recreation Department and the Youth Center staff on activities, events, and programs to meet the needs of our students. The YAC strengthens the image of community for our young people in San Carlos.

Pop-Up Thrift Shop Results


Thanks to the community’s generous donations, YAC raised a total of $1,005 during the Pop-Up Thrift Shop throughout Hometown Days weekend. Of this amount, $539 was donated to the organization 'One Tree Planted' and $466 was donated to The Water Project.

Drop-In Family Tot-Time

Ages walking - 5 | Fee: $5

Monday & Wednesday | 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.



Enjoy a fun child play zone with scooters, slides, balls and other various play equipment to encourage social skills and develop gross motor skills. Class is unstructured and adult supervision is required at all times.


Tot-Time will be closed June 10 - August 21 and will reopen on Monday, August 26.
