Behavioral Healthcare’s new era is NOW | | |
The Stephen M. Morris Behavioral Health Center is OPEN in Concord (925 Progress Place NE), providing around-the- clock support for individuals experiencing mental health or substance use crises. Both the Adult and Child Behavioral Health Urgent Care centers offer walk in services 24/7, with no appointment necessary. Care is delivered by Monarch Healthcare, a statewide leader in behavioral health care.
| |
“The center provides a place where individuals and families can turn for support during difficult moments. With 24/7 walk-in care for adults and children, we want our community to know that help is available and no one has to navigate a behavioral health crisis alone,” says Kamilah McKissick, Cabarrus County behavioral health director.
| | The center also offers specialized services for youth, including a Youth Crisis Center and a Psychiatric Residential Treatment Facility (PRTF). Information about referrals and available services is available at ProgressStartsHere.org. | | Understanding the School Bond | | GO Bond Information Sessions | | |

The one-hour session includes an overview of the proposed referendum, followed by a Q&A with County and school officials.
This election season, Cabarrus voters will decide whether to approve up to $400 million in General Obligation (GO) Bonds for capital needs identified by Cabarrus County Schools, Kannapolis City Schools and Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
Two ballot questions cover up to $340 million for Cabarrus County Schools and Kannapolis City Schools and $60 million for Rowan-Cabarrus Community College.
GO bonds would support major capital projects, including new school construction, roof and HVAC replacements, plumbing upgrades and security enhancements.

BONUS #6 🌽 Protecting our roots
More than 88 acres of Cabarrus County farmland could be protected through a portion of a $51.2 million statewide grant from the N.C. Agricultural Development and Farmland Preservation Trust Fund. The Cabarrus Soil and Water Conservation District is working with Helms Red Barn Farm to establish a conservation easement that will protect 88.3 acres from future development while allowing the land to remain in agricultural use. The project builds on ongoing local efforts that have helped protect about 417 acres through 10 conservation easements, with six more totaling 467 acres in progress.
