State: “No Robo Bosses Act” Reaches Governor’s Desk: 13-Day Window to Act
The Legislature passed SB 947 (Sen. Jerry McNerney) and sent it to Governor Newsom, who has until September 30 to sign or veto it. The bill would require human oversight when automated decision systems are used in employee discipline, termination or deactivation decisions. If enacted, it would be the first state law of its kind. The California Chamber of Commerce opposes SB 947, citing compliance burdens, costs and penalties for employers of all sizes. Businesses and employers can provide feedback to the Governor before September 30 by selecting “An Active Bill.” Click here and here for more information.

National: New Fed Chair's First Rate Hike Breaks From Trump's Wishes
On September 16, the Federal Reserve raised interest rates a quarter-point to 3.75%–4.00%, its first hike since 2023, and the first under new Fed Chair Kevin Warsh, whom Trump picked hoping for cuts, not hikes. The action drew criticism from President Trump. One caution from Wall Street: the hike may not ease costs businesses feel most, like insurance, healthcare and energy. Businesses may expect new loans and variable-rate debt to get pricier, with no guarantee those other costs come down. Click here and here for more information.

Purchase a Tasting Wristband to enjoy signature bites from approximately 30 participating Los Gatos restaurants, with the option to upgrade to Bites & Wine for tastings from approximately 20 local wineries. The Bites & Wine Wristband also includes an exclusive David Bruce Winery vertical barrel tasting of Pinot Noir and one complimentary beverage ticket redeemable at the Chamber Tap Truck or Tap Wall.
NEW this year, Vintage on Village will feature food and wine tastings, live jazz, a curated showcase of vintage and collectible Porsches, and craft beer for purchase.
In the Family Fun Zone, families can enjoy free carnival games and interactive activities, plus purchase sandwiches and snacks at the NEW Chamber Cafe featuring Blvd Coffee. Plus, enjoy live music from The Freshmakers on the Main Stage, and other talented acts throughout the afternoon.

Second Edition Launching at Taste of Los Gatos!
Consumer-facing businesses: Submit a special offer for the second edition of the Los Gatos Perks Pass: a free digital collection of offers from local businesses that consumers can access on their phones. Chamber members participate at no cost.
The first edition attracted 1,190 passholders, with complimentary restaurant desserts among the most popular offers.
Previously participated? Simply log in to your merchant portal to upload your latest promo. If your previous offer didn't generate significant engagement, consider a new promotion this time.

Wednesday, October 7 | 5:30–8:00 p.m
Hear directly from the candidates for Los Gatos Town Council ahead of the November 3 election. The Los Gatos Chamber of Commerce will host a nonpartisan Candidate Forum, giving Chamber members and the community-at-large an opportunity to hear candidates discuss the issues shaping Los Gatos.
Five of the six qualified candidates have confirmed their participation: Mayor Rob Moore, Heidi Owens, Steve Raspe, Rob Stump, and Jeff Suzuki.
The moderated forum will focus on Town budget and fiscal priorities, housing and development, and business and economic vitality, with an opportunity for audience questions. All participating candidates will receive the same questions and equal opportunity to respond.
The forum is open to the community, but registration is required.
