April 2022 | Issue 4

From the Executive Director

Since 2019 I have served on the Board of Massachusetts Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (MACCE). I am delighted to share that as of April 1, 2022 I have the privilege to serve as President. I step in behind Nancy Creed, President, Springfield Regional Chamber and we thank her for her amazing leadership!

MACCE is our state organization committed to assisting our members in personal and professional development and in the performance of our duties as Chamber Executives.

This group of professionals has been imperative to me, in particular over the past two years.

It is my honor to serve. My goal in my new role, is to continue providing our members with those resources and support, that has become so important to me, so that we in turn, as Chamber Executives, can continue the important work we embark upon each day for our individual Chamber Members.

Thank you MACCE for this opportunity!

Licensing Board

City of Easthampton Licensing Board Approves Outdoor Live Entertainment Application

The Easthampton Licensing Board approved implementing an Outdoor Live Entertainment License under MGL Chapter 140, §181 at their March 9, 2022, licensing meeting effective April 1, 2022. The Easthampton Licensing Board held three public hearings over the course of several months and asked for local business and community input around the application and licensing process. After collaboration with the public and City Solicitor, the board voted to implement the licensing process for all outdoor live entertainment events. *Anyone seeking to do outdoor live entertainment open to the public must go through the Local Licensing Authority’s (LLA) proper channels for their event. *Liquor licensees are not subject to this under MGL Chapter 140 § 183A. At the March 9th meeting, the board requested that their department LLA, Lindsi Mailler, revise the application to include “good neighbor” language. The good neighbor language added now reads, “The LLA ask that anyone applying for a license make a commitment to being a responsible neighbor in the community. Out of consideration for others in the community, the emission of any unreasonably loud, disturbing, and unnecessary noise that disturbs the peace and quiet of the community or an individual is prohibited. Outdoor Live Entertainment licenses are a beneficial resolution for remedying disputes and moving forward with future applications. Applicants should be mindful to monitor/control the behavior of attendees so that the program, event or activity complies with the approved license at all times.” The outdoor live entertainment application and guidelines can be found on the city website.
