"The Gift of Time"

Dear Southern Door Community,
Children love the gifts at the holidays! One gift that your child or grandchild will never tire of is your undivided attention. Take time over the next few weeks to spend some quality time with your child or grandchild. Invest in them and watch the payback and return for years to come!

The letter on the right is a great reminder of what we see and hear at school about how important those personal "gifts of your time" are to our children to help them feel important in your lives and Eagle Strong!

R.I.D.E. Program Helps Students with Disabilities
Check out this news story about a cool program that helps students with disabilities improve their motor and social skills. The High School mentors enjoy the program as much as the students they are helping! Students come to school talking about how much fun they are having. Thank you to the  Door County YMCA ,  Door County Medical Center , and Leadership Door County for making this program possible for our students in our Door County Schools!
HOLIDAY PARTY HUGE SUCCESS - Bitterly cold temperatures outside could not quell the warm gathering inside the Southern Door Middle School gymnasium Wednesday afternoon for the 33rd annual Senior Citizen Holiday Party. Go to this Door County Daily News link to learn more and see a video of part of the program.
LIBRARY DEDICATED TO FORMER STAFF MEMBER
"The Town of Union Library at 905 County DK, is a small independent library that started up two years ago. I am proud to finally dedicate it to my mother-in-law, Bernadette Moore. She was an assistant librarian at Southern Door High School for 21 years. She loved her job at Southern Door and after her retirement missed the people she worked with, especially the students.

I can testify that up to the end of her life she would read books out loud still striving to grasp the meaning of the words despite her dementia. Bernadette passed away on June 23, 2019."

Submitted by her daughter-in-law, Kay (and Nick) Moore

If you are interested in playing, and would like the music ahead of time, please contact Band Director, Ms. Naomi Files at  nfiles@southerndoor.k12.wi.us . If you need an instrument, we can probably help you out! If you are interested in playing, have your own instrument, and are fine sight reading that night, just let Ms. Files know you'll be there, so she can have some music printed out for you. Cerebral Palsy Service Learning Project and Fifth Grade Musical
This year marks the 45th Annual Southern Door 5th Grade Musical. Under the direction of Amanda Marx and Sara Mueller, 'Summer Camp' will take you back to the days at camp - learning new skills, exploring nature, and figuring out where you belong. Expect campfire songs, spooky tall-tales, and lots of laughs! This production allows students to grow in their public speaking and self confidence, improve their teamwork skills, and enhance their musicality.

In addition to bringing our production to life, the 5th graders of Southern Door will work together to raise money for the Cerebral Palsy Center in Green Bay. Throughout the winter, they will be collecting money for Cerebral Palsy to present to the center during their telethon in March. We hope to see you at our show on Thursday February 27th or Friday the 28th at 7:00 pm at the Southern Door Community Auditorium - or watch for us on the CP Telethon on March 8th. If you are interested in contributing to our cause, please contact Bridget Spude at  bspude@southerndoor.k12.wi.us .
