Dear Shamong Families:
This school year has certainly been unlike any other. The district Board of Education and Administration have decided to take advantage of the flexibility afforded to us by the NJ Department of Education in regards to inclement weather closures. In the event of inclement weather, which in the past would have resulted in a delayed opening, early dismissal or closure of the school entirely, this year, the Shamong School District will move to a single-session virtual school day.
In addition to our teachers and students being prepared for a virtual school day, being able to continue instruction during what previously would have been a “snow day” has many benefits. Most importantly, students, parents and staff will be safe at home and not navigating the roads during inclement weather. The virtual day will also eliminate the need to add on days of instruction at the end of the school year in June.
The single session virtual day at Indian Mills Elementary ends at 1:05 pm, and the single session virtual day at Indian Mills Memorial ends at 12:20 pm, allowing time in the afternoon to enjoy the snow with friends and family, or to just relax.
During a weather-related virtual day, the district will follow the regularly scheduled day for that date as indicated by the A/B Hybrid Schedule. The next in-person day following the “snow day” will continue with the A/B Hybrid Schedule.
Thank you and Let It Snow!!
Stay Well,
