The contractor will continue daily operations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., Monday through Friday. Substantial completion of the project is anticipated in late spring to early summer 2026, with final completion expected by late summer 2026. Between substantial and final completion, the community may experience minor road closures associated with final project operations.

The above noted schedule and work hours are subject to change due to weather and/or other unforeseen circumstances.

Traffic Impacts

The City remains committed to minimizing disruption for residents and visitors. Traffic operations will be assisted by off-duty officers and flaggers during peak traffic hours. Please find the detour route information below:

San Marco Island Detour

Traveling west along Venetian Way/Causeway (approaching N Venetian Way)

  • Proceed west along Venetian Way/Venetian Causeway until the roadway junction and bare right onto the right-hand junction/fork of N Venetian Way.
  • Proceed along the right-hand junction/fork until you reach the stop sign, then continue into the main N Venetian Way through road.

Traveling east along Venetian Way/Causeway (approaching San Marino Island)

  • Eastbound traffic along Venetian Way at San Marco Island will not be impacted.

Project Overview

This construction project will replace the aerial water and sewer main crossings on the Causeway, which run along the north and south sides of the Venetian bridges. The pipes are in poor condition and ranked first in the prioritized list of critical assets for the Water & Sewer Renewal and Replacement Report.

The work includes installing four new water mains and two new sewer mains using horizontal directional drilling (HDD) to replace the existing lines connecting San Marco, San Marino, Di Lido, Rivo Alto and Dade Boulevard. Once completed, the upgraded system will provide the increased flow capacity needed to support the city’s growing demand.
