Employers: Do you have questions or need assistance?

START WITH OUR EMPLOYER SUPPORT TEAM

The WSCC has a new Employer Support team dedicated to helping employers, supervisors, and administrative professionals with their questions and service needs.

The Employer Support team can help with WSCC Connect account access and general online account management, such as registration, payments, payroll reporting, and clearances. The team will also be able to provide information about your WSCC account, and employer responsibilities.

Contact the WSCC’s Employer Support team if you require assistance:

Payroll Estimate Revision

DEADLINE IS NOVEMBER 30

Employers have until November 30 to revise their current-year payroll estimate to ensure it is accurate. If you underestimate by 25% or more compared with your final year-end amount, a penalty is applied.

Reminder: The NWT and Nunavut have distinct Year’s Maximum Insurable Remuneration (YMIR*) values. A small percentage of employers may have worked or have workers in both territories. Report changes for the corresponding territory or both, whichever applies. If you are reporting for both territories, review this document for what to keep in mind.

Revise your current year payroll by following this link: WSCC Connect.

You can find more information about payroll revision on WSCC Connect. If you have any questions about revising your payroll, contact WSCC’s Employer Support team:

*YMIR is the dollar amount used to calculate compensation benefits for injured workers and sets a limit on the amount of payroll that employers report per worker.

Safety Spotlight – Lifts and Twists

Lifting and twisting incidents can happen when a worker is lifting or carrying something heavy, and they twist or move their upper body without moving their feet.

Examples of tasks that may cause a lift and twist injury include shoveling something heavy like gravel or snow, or carrying a heavy object and slipping, which causes the body to jerk to regain balance.

The top three occupations that are exposed to twisting and lifting hazards in the North are:

  • Janitors, caretakers, and building superintendents
  • Air transport ramp attendants
  • Construction trades helpers and labourers

For more information on lifting and twisting incidents, including how to prevent them at your worksite, see our latest Safety Spotlight.
