Now is the time to join DRMA’s workers comp group! Joining a group rating program is the best way for DRMA members to significantly lower their Ohio workers’ compensation premiums. Contact Julia Bowling to see how our endorsed partner, Sedgwick, can save you money and provide unmatched claims support.

Safety Alert!Check out this month's tip from our workers comp program administrator, Sedgwick, and other partners:

  • REMINDER! Ohio BWC’s True-Up deadline is 8/31. The mandatory true-up is a reconciliation of your BWC estimated payroll versus your actual policy year payroll. Read more on why it’s required and how to do it here.
  • OSHA and PERRP are widely known for their detailed safety standards and regulations, but not every workplace risk is specifically addressed by regulation. This is where OSHA and PERRP’s General Duty Clause comes in. Click here to learn more about what’s included and how avoid citations from the general duty clause.
  • The Ohio BWC has announced a small change to Group Rating discounts for private employers beginning with the 2027 policy year. Even with the change, group rating programs continue to be one of the best ways for employers to cut costs. Read more here.

The group provides an on-line venue to ask questions, learn from each other, and collaborate on a private platform dedicated to our members. Click here to request to join the group!

Now that the 2026-27 school year is upon us, I want to remind members that DRMA has a robust career outreach program designed to inform students about the great careers in manufacturing – but we need volunteers to cover the various events in our region. DRMA recently hired Michelle Pund to lead these efforts, and we can’t wait for you to meet her. Michelle retired last year after a 32-year career in the classroom. She is a Bellbrook football mom and full of energy! When she emails you about volunteer opportunities, we hope you will carefully consider how you can help!

Michelle and the DRMA staff does all the hard work; your job is to talk one-on-one with students when they come up to our display table. Events are a couple of hours long, no public speaking is required, and talking points will be provided. We’ll send you an email when we have an opportunity, and you will let us know if the location and date work for you. Upcoming events: Preble County (at Preble Co Fairgrounds) on 9/3, Fairborn HS on 9/18, and Made in Miami County (at Miami County Fairgrounds) on 9/22. Contact Michelle for more info.

DRMA is proud to partner with The Abilities Connection and SOCHE in their Bridging Abilities program: You get your light assembly work done at a low price AND help students learn manufacturing skills! Send SOCHE an email at soche@soche.org to learn more.

Attention Manufacturer members: Click here to see manufacturing-pertinent resumes I have received.
