Come and join us for a class (or two) as we go into the holiday season and beyond! Our class schedule is now published through January. A few of the most popular classes are already full - but there are still many great baking and decorating classes and some new classes available. Classes include baking and decorating classes of all types and are open to all skill levels. With the sale, maybe think of bringing a friend and introducing them to the fun of Make It Sweet classes! We welcome kids 8 to 12 years old in our regular classes as long as they are accompanied by a participating adult and teens are welcome to take classes independently. We do list some classes as specifically BYOB and while we don't limit the age of attendees, because of more open drinking, those classes are more suitable for adults only. Age 21 and up adults are welcome to more discreetly bring adult beverages to enjoy during any class. The class sale applies to all of our regular classes that are currently on the schedule now through January. All Make It Sweet Instructors' Classes with Jennifer, Sallia, Magda, Kelly, Rebecca, Pam, and Pavla are included in the sale! Visiting instructor classes, prior registrations, kid's classes, workshops, mini-sessions, open houses and special events are not included. Happy Halloween! Here's a picture of cupcakes from our cupcake class this year. Use this for inspiration. If you have some last minute cupcakes that you are making - you can watch a segment from KXAN Studio 512 where we make mummies, grass monsters and spider webs.

Kid's Classes Our own Chef Christy is going to be teaching some classes specifically for kids when they are out of school for Thanksgiving and Winter breaks. There is a super cute Turkey Cake on Tuesday 11/26 before Thanksgiving and then a Unicorn Cake on 12/27 and Frozen themed Cookie Decorating on 1/3. Our kids classes are all drop-off classes - making the classroom a kids only space (other than the instructor, assistants and teenage helpers). The classes are geared for kids ages 6 - 11. Please note that kids classes are not included in our class sale as they are already specially priced.

Gingerbread House Workshops December 20th - 23rd

Make It Sweet and the Capital Confectioners Cake Club  are partnering again to offer our popular  Gingerbread House Decorating Workshops!  The houses will already be assembled and there will be a whole buffet of fun sweet edibles to choose from for decorations as well as icing and more. Make It Sweet staff  and Club members will be on hand to give decorating pointers, tips and tricks. This is a fun all-ages family event  and up to 4 people can decorate their gingerbread house together. Take the houses home and display them just in time for the holidays. Proceeds benefit the events put on by the  Capital Confectioners Cake Club.  Be sure to register soon - these workshops fill-up fast. King Arthur Flour Recipe Database

The King Arthur Flour site is one of my favorite free online spots to go to for baking related recipes. I have always had success with the recipes that I have made from here. King Arthur Flour also has the most comprehensive conversion chart for weights and volume of any baking ingredient that you can think of. I use that conversion chart all of the time when making recipes that just have volume and not weight measures. Where Will We Be? F rom November 21st to the 24th we will have a booth at the Austin Junior League A Christmas Affair event at the Parmer Event Center. Now in its 44th year, A Christmas Affair is a five-day holiday market that hosts over 200 retail merchants from across the country. The Junior League of Austin uses the funds raised at A Christmas Affair to provide essential funding and volunteer hours to programs such as  Coats for Kids ,  FIT-Food In Tummies  and over 30 local community non-profits. You will see us doing a gingerbread house decorating demonstration in the Candyland area at the end of theTrail - and we will have a booth with some sweet treats available right outside of the tent.
