ACTION ALERT: Join Us for Two Upcoming Hearings and Testimony Writing Campaigns!

GOOD NEWS: H.B. 6983 (supporting $33.5 million for the Homeless Response System) and H.B. 6894 (codifying the Interagency Council on Homelessness) have been passed out of the Housing Committee and will be voted on by the General Assembly!

Our work isn't done yet! Join us in solidarity, wear your yellow

t-shirt, and submit written testimony for two critically important hearings on Wednesday and Thursday this week:

Appropriations Committee Hearing

Conservation & Development Subcommittee (DOH)

On Wednesday, the Appropriations Committee's Subcommittee on Conservation & Development (DOH) will be hearing testimony on H.B. 6864, An Act Concerning the State Budget for the Biennium Ending June 30th, 2027 and Making Appropriations Therefor.

Why It's Important: H.B. 6864 includes funding for the Department of Housing, and legislators need to see your support for our ask of $33.5 million for the Homeless Response System!

It is vital to have as many people as possible submit written testimony. Please encourage your staff, boards of directors, and all community partners to submit written testimony in support of the critical investments we need to save lives through prevention, crisis response, and housing.

When: Wednesday, February 26th at 4:30 PM

Where: Room #2C, LOB, 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford

Housing Committee Hearing on

Alternatives to Ticketing, Fines, & Arrests

On Thursday, the Housing Committee will hear testimony on H.B. 7033, An Act Prohibiting A Municipality From Imposing A Penalty on Homeless Persons For Undertaking Life-Sustaining Activities on Public Land.

Why It's Important: This legislation would correct the harm done by the Supreme Court in Johnson v. Grants Pass, which allows state and municipalities to arrest, ticket, or fine people sheltering in public spaces while unhoused, even when there is no other option.

When: Thursday, February 27th at 10:00 AM

Where: Room #2D, LOB, 300 Capitol Ave., Hartford
