Celebrating Excellence: SOHO Announces the

2026 People In Preservation Award Winners

SAN DIEGO, CA - September 16, 2026 - Save Our Heritage Organisation (SOHO) is proud to announce the 2026 People In Preservation (PIP) Awards.

Now in their forty-fourth year, the PIP Awards recognize people who make preservation happen in San Diego. This year’s honorees represent an extraordinary breadth of the field, from the restoration of distinguished homes and landmark public buildings to the reawakening of historic places, the stewardship of architectural legacies, and the preservation of stories passed from one generation to the next.

An exceptional group of advocates, historians, architects and restorers, chroniclers, descendants, civic leaders, and longtime stewards. Together, the 2026 award recipients demonstrate the many ways preservation takes shape and carries forward the places and stories that define us.

“At its heart, preservation is an act of care, an insistence that the places and histories we value will endure,” said Bruce Coons, executive director of SOHO. “Each of these awardees has helped make San Diego a richer, more authentic place. The PIP Awards reflect SOHO's belief that preservation is a living endeavor. Historic places survive because people choose to care for them, defend them, learn from them, and pass their stories forward.”
