The Fifth Annual Symposium on Death and Bereavement Studies DETAILS TO COME

By popular demand, there are plans in the works to not only bring back our LIVE conference, but to resurrect the original Afterlife Conference.

As you many know, we spent the last couple of years expanding our focus to include more academic research, and veered away from mediumship and many afterlife topics. But now the pendulum is swinging back toward the middle, and we're re-balancing those subject areas to better match the interests of our audience.

But first we need to test the waters a bit, and in fact, water is a big part of our plan for the next conference. We're thinking about having it on a cruise ship, but we'd like your feedback on this idea. So we've set up a survey that we hope you'll fill out.

You can find the survey HERE.

All survey respondents will receive a discount to the conference, and free digital downloads of all four of my books, so I hope you will take a moment to respond!

NEWS, ARTICLES AND EDUCATION

How the Internet is Changing the Way We Grieve

"People don’t die in the same way that they used to. In the past, a relative, friend, partner would pass away, and in time, all that would be left would be memories and a collection of photographs. These days the dead are now forever present online, and digital encounters with someone who has passed away are becoming a common experience." READ MORE...

Grief Camps for Kids

"About six million children in the U.S. will experience the death of a parent or sibling by age 18. In the book Bereavement Camps for Children and Adolescents, researchers suggest that bereavement camps decrease traumatic grief and post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) symptoms, including denial, irritability, and intense ongoing fear or sadness in children after the loss of a parent. Though there are different types of grief camps, they have similar goals of helping children process their grief while still allowing them to be kids." READ MORE...

Death Doula Training With

Robust Academics and Clinical Supervision

In many of our newsletters we've bemoaned the sad state of online certification trainings for death doulas because of their skimpy academic and experiential requirements. We are often asked to recommend a good program, and we are happy to endorse the training offered by the International End of Life Doula Association (INELDA). They have robust requirements for certification and excellent content. READ MORE...

The Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards

When Jessica Waite's husband Sean died suddenly, he left her with a young child and a lot of messy secrets... infidelity, addiction and hidden debt. In the emotional aftermath, even though Sean was dead, he continued to show up in Jessica’s life through strange coincidences and synchronicities, leading her to wonder if he might be reaching back, trying to make amends.

Jessica's memoir, The Widow’s Guide to Dead Bastards—named a "Most Anticipated Book of the Summer" by Goodreads, AARP, Chatelaine, BIBLIOLIFESTYLE, The Toronto Star and Canadian Living—is a riveting and deeply moving examination of whether relationships can heal beyond the veil of death. Available wherever you buy books.
