October 2026

We’re excited about all the events and activity the fall months bring to Impact Austin as we gear up to begin our 2027 grant cycle after the holidays.

Our Membership Committee has planned a host of opportunities this month and next for us to gather to serve together, introduce new women to Impact Austin, and socialize under the theme “Celebrating Community.” After all, that’s what Impact Austin’s mission is all about – coming together in community with other women philanthropists and our local nonprofit partners to make Central Texas a better place for everyone who lives here. Please check out the calendar of events below and on our website and attend as many as you can. Be sure to bring a friend to introduce them to how they can become a part of the collective giving movement. Remember: recruiting more amazing women to become part of Impact Austin is how we grow our grant pool so that we can increase our impact in Central Texas through larger grants.

We’ll continue the theme of “Celebrating Community” at our 2026 Town Hall meeting on Tuesday, November 10, at ACC Highland campus. We’ll share updates on the organization, upcoming events, and ways you can get more involved. Several of our community partners will talk with us about belonging and how their organizations are fostering belonging in our area. We’ll also premiere inspiring new grant outcome videos from Community Partners showcasing the impact that our grants have made on the clients they serve.

We hope to see you soon at an upcoming event!

Impact Austin Opportunities and a New Webpage!

Have you checked out our new Volunteer webpage? It breaks down all the ways to engage with Impact Austin as a volunteer – everything from diving deep in a key role to helping with short-term or done-in-a-day tasks. What might intrigue you? Many thanks to our Philanthropy Manager Alyssa Torres and intern Nya Lawson for bringing the revamped page to life. Nya joins us from Texas State University, where she is majoring in Mass Communications with a minor in Journalism.

Special Volunteer Roles

Treasurer

Impact Austin is seeking a dynamic, mission‑driven Treasurer to help steward our financial reporting and strengthen the financial backbone of our organization. This leadership-oriented, volunteer board role heads an experienced Finance Committee, partners with the Executive Committee on budgeting and financial reporting, and oversees our annual audit and 990 process. It’s an ideal opportunity for someone who loves numbers, values community impact, and wants to help shape efficient, transparent systems that support high‑value philanthropy. Interested candidates can learn more or connect with our President or current Treasurer for details. We anticipate an overlap period between Treasurers to ensure a smooth knowledge transition. The Treasurer role will start on July 1, 2027, with onboarding to the Finance Committee and role prior to that date (and ongoing support throughout the role). Please email Krista McNaughton, our current Treasurer, for further details.

Other opportunities on the Finance Committee include Co-Chair and committee members. See our Volunteer webpage for more details on these positions.

Technology Platform Upgrade

Impact Austin is in the early stages of investigating a technology platform upgrade. We are seeking a volunteer with experience in evaluating nonprofit/membership technology platforms (CRMs), recommending alternatives, and leading the transition to the new platform. If you are interested in learning more, please contact Claudia Barlow.

Engaging with Community Partners

On a late September afternoon, Impact Austin members had a very special appointment with Trinity Center Austin. They purchased and served dinner for 60 as part of Trinity Center’s Summer Cooling Initiative, which was partially funded by our 2026 Health & Well-Being Grant of $80,000. You can read all about this exceptional experience on our blog.

2020 Community Partner BookSpring will welcome us back on Oct 26 to support their mission to put books in kiddos’ hands. Our volunteers will sort and organize books that ultimately benefit families and young readers. This has been a fun volunteer event in the past! Register here.

That December 31 Deadline

If you’ve been an Impact Austin member for more than a year, you know that 12/31 is a special date for our giving circle. All membership donations paid from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2026, will collectively build the funding for our 2027 grants. How do we make our grants as big as possible? Join, re-join, or renew by December 31. Invite a friend or colleague to do the same, while sharing our membership giving levels and monthly payment option. Invite someone to one of our events. Share our social media posts and upload a Google review to build awareness and invite new members. We all know that the only thing better than an Impact Austin grant is……….an even bigger grant!

Corporate Match

Your generosity could have a corporate plus-one. Your employer (or your spouse or partner's employer) may offer charitable matching gifts that could turn your support for Impact Austin into doing even more good for our community. A quick check with HR or your company’s giving portal could uncover an opportunity to amplify your generosity.

You’ve already said yes to Impact Austin. See if your employer will, too! Contact us for help exploring a match.

Grants

Girls Giving Grants Applications Close Oct 23

The 63 members of Girls Giving Grants will award their $9,000 grant in late April. Training and orientation for new members is underway as grant applications are being submitted. The review process launches in November. Read all about their process here!

GRC Registration Opens Nov 10

Who are the 70 members who will power our three Grant Review Committees (GRCs)? Members don’t have to be experienced with grantmaking, grant writing, or Impact Austin itself. Training is provided. This is a great opportunity for new members to learn more about our grantmaking, become acquainted with community nonprofits, and build community with fellow members. Returning members deepen relationships with others and share their GRC acumen. Registration will run from Nov 10 into January.

Events

Celebrating Community Events

Our next 5 events are part of Impact Austin's inaugural Member Celebration Weeks! We're celebrating our members and opening our doors to the supporters, sponsors, and community partners who make our work possible. These events lead up to our Town Hall Meeting on Nov 10, whose theme is – you guessed it – Celebrating Community! Most of these events are great opportunities to introduce someone new to Impact Austin.

Even More Events!

Share with a friend, bring a friend, and hang out with your Impact Austin friends!
