EDGE Systems of Organization

Students are amidst the first full week of school, and are fully immersing in the routines and responsibilities of scheduling learning and planning/prioritizing how to use their time.

While scheduling learning definitely looks different within EDGE, there are systems of organization to support success. We want to make sure you know about our systems:

Punch List - This is a weekly list of sessions that students need to attend, as well as independent activities (IA) that students will need to engage in to make progress on their projects and coursework. This is the guide for scheduling sessions, setting goals, and creating a to-do list. Students can access the punch list each week on Canvas.

Sched - Sched is the online scheduling platform that students will use to create a personal schedule. Students should reference the punch list to know which sessions to attend and plan their time in a way that best supports their learning needs and optimal productivity.

Learning Tracker- Your student has created a personalized google doc that lists the learning competencies for each course. Students will learn these competencies through their work on projects and classwork and use the learning tracker as a way to track and reflect on progress. We encourage students to share the learning tracker with their parents.

Flow - Flow is learning time that students will schedule throughout the week when they are not in a required learning session. The goal is for students to use this time to get "in the flow" and accomplish thinking, collaboration, and tasks to make progress in their learning.

Great questions to discuss at home:

  • How are you scheduling your time this week and why did you plan it that way?
  • What are your priorities and goals for this week?
  • Did you have any conflicts with scheduling and how did you problem solve it?
  • What are you learning about how you work best?
  • How are you keeping track of what you need to do?
  • What skills are you learning and how will you show evidence of your understanding?
  • How can we celebrate your progress?
