Mid-Autumn Moon Viewing in Tokyo

In Japan, the moon is regarded as embodying the spirit of agriculture, and otsukimi is held to express gratitude for a bountiful harvest. Special offerings are made to the harvest moon during otsukimi, the most iconic of which are tsukimi-dango round white moon-like dumplings of kneaded and steamed rice flour.

“Otsukimi” refers to a range of activities that give thanks for a bountiful harvest and celebrate the “Mid-Autumn Moon” appearing from mid to late September, believed to be the year’s most beautiful. Over this period, Tokyo temples and shrines hold an array of events around moon-gazing. One that anyone can join is the Mid-Autumn Moon Viewing Party at the Roppongi Hills Observatory, scheduled for September 29 this year. Enjoy viewing the lovely lunar vision through the telescope at Roppongi Hills Observatory, recognized as one of the 100 best places in Japan to view the heavenly body. Tokyo Now

Walking the Sustainability Talk

The Maldivian tourism industry and the Government have formed a vibrant partnership, with visitors included, to combat climate change.

Even on a vacation, visitors can be a guardian of our blue planet through eco-adventures with expert-guided snorkeling, coral planting, and joining beach clean-ups. The island also has multiple projects in action to restore coral reefs, protect turtles, and educate local communities.

The Maldives aims to reach carbon neutrality by 2030 and ban single-use plastics by 2023.

Zhong Yuan Jie (中元节), also known as the Hungry Ghost Festival is on August 30, 2023. It traditionally falls on the 15th day of the seventh month of the lunar calendar. In Singapore, the festival is observed throughout the entire seventh lunar month, which is from August 16, 2023 to September 14, 2023.

In Guangxi, eating duck is an essential eating ritual. This delicious lemon duck is one of the classic dishes in Guangxi, and people’s favorite. It tastes sour and spicy, and is very appetizing.
