The Untold Story of Lot and His Daughters
By Mendel Braun; art by Sefira Lightstone
| |
The narrative of Lot and his two daughters, whose unions in a cave just after the destruction of Sodom birthed two nations, is perhaps one of the most perplexing and hotly debated stories in all of the Pentateuch.
Over the centuries, the incest between Lot and his daughters has raised many questions, debates, and theories among scholars and laymen alike, while the story itself gained much traction in Renaissance biblical art.

The Rebbe and the Professor
Modified and supplemented by Yerachmiel Tilles from the book, "The Mashpia, Rav Mendel Futerfas". Taken from Ascentofsafed.com
| |
Reb Mendel related a story that he heard in his childhood directly from the one to whom it happened, when the man himself told it publicly at his brother's wedding.
Rabbi Shmuel Segalowitz, when he was a youth, was one of the students in the Tomchei Tamimim Yeshiva in Lubavitch in the early 1900's . Taken from "From Exile to Redemption", published by SIE

The Rebbe Rashab, the 5th Lubavitcher Rebbe, once said: “Moshiach will come to wherever Chassidus is being studied.”

“That’s precisely what I said,” replied the Rebbe, “for as you know, olive oil alludes to the mystical secrets of the Torah....”

Schnitzel often doesn’t love us back: Too many diners complain that they love it but are disappointed that they get so easily dried out.
My daughter-in-law Ruthie makes the best schnitzel but always keeps insisting she does nothing in particular, so I decided to spy on her once when she made the dish, from beginning to end. The result is some friendly troubleshooting for everyone.

From Aish.com
The Rosenberg family was on their first trip to Israel and they wanted to do something adventurous so they decided to go skydiving. During the class, Itzik the skydiving instructor was taking questions.
Howie Rosenberg asked, "If our chute doesn't open, and the reserve doesn't open, how long do we have until we hit the ground?"
Itzik looked at Howie and responded straight faced, "The rest of your life."

"Everyone must regard himself and the world as evenly poised between good and guilt...If he performed a good deed, he has shifted the balance of his fate, and that of the entire world to good, and has brought deliverance and salvation upon himself and upon them all."
