On October 1, 1996, Paul Vinciguerra and Jack Rotondo opened Upstate Printing in Syracuse, New York. Our original team of four—Paul, Debi Rotondo, Mike Muters, and Dick Grabowski—started with a simple goal: to serve our community and our customers.
Thirty years later, that purpose still guides us.
What began as a small offset print shop has grown into the Upstate Printing you know today on West Onondaga Street. Along the way, we’ve expanded into digital printing, wide format and signage, direct mail marketing and consultation, promotional products, and design and creative services. Each step has given us new ways to help our customers bring their ideas to life and grow their businesses.
But the story of these 30 years is about much more than our capabilities. It’s about the people who have made it all possible.
Through three location changes, economic uncertainty, and a global pandemic, our team has continued to show up for our customers and for one another. We’ve also experienced deeply personal losses, including our founder, Paul, in 2015 and Patti in 2020. Their absence is still felt, and their contributions remain part of who we are.
As we reflect on this milestone, I keep coming back to the vision my father had for Upstate. He stayed curious, embraced new possibilities, and remained true to who he was. I like to think that, together, we’ve honored his vision in how we've grown and how we've served our customers
After Paul’s passing, Kim Vinciguerra and Debi Rotondo became owners, holding the company together through a difficult time and helping Upstate move forward.
As we begin our next chapter, we’ll keep building on the foundation laid over these past 30 years: personal service, pride in our work, and relationships built on trust.
Being an extension of your business means understanding your goals, caring about your success, and finding ways to help you move forward. It also means staying connected to the community we’re proud to call home.
To our employees, customers, partners, and the Syracuse community: thank you. Your hard work, trust, and support have made this milestone possible. We’re proud of what we’ve built together.
Relationships matter. They're what brought us here, and they're what will carry us into the next 30 years.
With gratitude,
Paul J. Vinciguerra, CEO
& the Upstate Printing Team
